TTC baby #2 - Two week wait

Hi everyone ☺️ We’re trying to conceive baby number two and I’m currently in the two week wait. This is only my first cycle of trying but my little girl was a complete surprise so I’m feeling quite anxious about the whole thing, the whole waiting to test is killing me 🙈 Just wondered if anyone else is in the same boat? I’m about 4dpo according to my app, I haven’t tested for ovulation so not 100% sure but I’m usually pretty regular, due on my period 20th July. Xx

Hi 🙋🏼‍♀️ I'm on cycle 2 ttc #2, I'm 1dpo today I've tracked ovulation but just need my bbt to rise again tomorrow to be sure.

I conceived my daughter in only 3 cycles so I have very unrealistic expectations of it happening so quickly again 😂 trying to be a bit more relaxed this cycle as I was a bit ott and obsessive last cycle

FinallyMrsT · 10/07/2023 17:45

Hi @katie416 I'm 4dpo with baby no2.
Similar to you, baby no1 was a complete surprise... he's actually going to be 14 in August- had him young and then got busy with a career and what not. I got married in April and figured now was a good time as any. This is my 3rd cycle of ttc. Firmly in the tww with you here

ChattermaxFromBluey · 10/07/2023 17:53

Hi, I’m 6 days post ovulation. Also TTC #2

like naggy, I conceived quickly before (1 cycle before a loss, 3 cycles with my now 3.5 yo) so probably have unrealistic expectations- also I’m nearly 38 so not sure why I think we’ll be first time lucky 😆 !

good luck everyone. I might have to get some FRERs soon. Been about 4 years since I did that… wow

FinallyMrsT · 10/07/2023 18:18

That's supposed to say 4dpo ttc baby no2... I think my brain is like mush after night shifts sorry

katie416 · 10/07/2023 18:38

@naggy095 @ChattermaxFromBluey also here with the unrealistic expectations 🙈 I know the exact day I conceived my first (even though she was a surprise) as it was the only time I’d had sex around my ovulation - was still tracking but not trying if that makes sense so really she shouldn’t have been a surprise but I was just oblivious lol. So it literally felt like it was meant to be & we were so lucky… so I know I’ll be panicking if it doesn’t happen this time but obviously that is so stupid 🤦🏻‍♀️😂

@FinallyMrsT Here to hold your hand deep in the trenches of the tww 😂 I reckon the waiting is the worst bit.

I’ve literally convinced myself I’ve been having cramps and my boobs are sore etc. but I think I probably feel like this every month & it’s my mind playing tricks!

OP posts:
FinallyMrsT · 10/07/2023 18:54

@katie416 i try really hard not to symptom spot. But I don't think I know my body well enough to even do it realistically 🤣 . I had my IUD taken out 5 months ago and I don't think I know whats normal or not... last 2 months I've had sore boots just before AF turned up. I had cramps a couple days after ovulation this month..I don't think I've ever experience ovulation pain though so was that it? I did use opks and it was cramps w days later. My boobs are sore today way to early for the usual af sore boobs ... so I think I'm starting to imagine things. 🤔🤣

katie416 · 10/07/2023 19:11

@FinallyMrsT Yes that’s like me!! I deffo get sore boobs before af but this feels too early 😵‍💫 I always get ovulation pain but to me it feels a lot like trapped wind in whichever side it’s coming from that month. I should really track my monthly symptoms more closely but I always forget.
When are you going to test? Not sure when is best to as I didn’t test until I was a week plus late my with my daughter as I was convinced I wasn’t pregnant! My first early symptom was feeling full after literally a few mouthfuls of food and I put that and missing my period down to stress because it was the first Christmas in our own house and I was doing the dinner, thought I didn’t fancy it cos I’d cooked it ffs, looking back it was so obvious 🤣 It was confirmed with a test a couple of days after Christmas think it might have been the day after Boxing Day 😂

OP posts:
FinallyMrsT · 10/07/2023 19:37

@katie416 I tested via my gp when I was a couple days late at 16 and it was inconclusive... I'm assuming to faint to confirm so I went back 4 days later it was again faint but positive which they showed me I was about a week later so I think it's probably a waste of my time to test early. But holding out until I'm late sounds like torture.

ChattermaxFromBluey · 10/07/2023 22:51

When’s the earliest people use FRERs now a days?

I am pretty sure I got my BFPs at 10dpo both times. Does anybody test before that?

katie416 · 11/07/2023 08:29

@FinallyMrsT It’s all changed now and they don’t test at the GP anymore! When I had my first I expected them getting me in to confirm but the receptionist just referred me to the midwives and I had to wait about 5 week until I had my first appointment. I was having a lot of bleeding as well and early pregnancy unit wouldn’t see me cos it was Covid and then didn’t deem it necessary enough. It was an nightmare. But yeah I think we’re just going to have a long painful wait 🙈

Apparently FRER works 6 days early but I’m guessing it won’t for everyone. I have heard that pink dye tests are more accurate than blue dye but all I have at the moment are some internet cheapies so I’ll be using them to start with 😂

OP posts:
FinallyMrsT · 11/07/2023 08:54

@katie416 I don't fancy doing it via thr gp. I think I nearly fainted they had me led down with my feet up and everything... hahaha. 16yr old me was not OK! 🤣 prefer a more relaxing experience if my turn comes. But thanks for letting me know how GPS work with it all. I think another of people have suggests boots early detection ones as a alternative choice to FRER because there seems to be a shortage of those. When do you plan to test?

katie416 · 11/07/2023 16:15

@FinallyMrsT Omg I can imagine 🤣 bless you! Oh really I haven’t heard of those but I will possibly go and buy some of them this weekend. I’m so tempted to test immediately which I know is so stupid 🙈 I might get those Boots ones and try them this weekend x

OP posts:
FinallyMrsT · 11/07/2023 21:51

I'm going to try not buy any so I can't be tempted to early/waste my money. I will go get some early next week... but we shall see.

Lollipop96 · 12/07/2023 09:04

Hi guys mind if I jump in on this post?

I'm currently in the TWW attempting for our first. Been trying now for around 4/5 months and every time I reach this stage my mind plays so many tricks on me!
I've started changing my diet, too scared to swim in the TWW or do normal things in case I 'change' what could happen! I've even invested in a conception cup!

Currently 5 days since ovulation was positive and now sending myself insane. It's crazy what information is out on the internet, my minds is going to explode. Last month we were really conceived I was pregnant, experiencing new symptoms which I've never had before, even went to the GP and they just said it was down to my menstrual cycle. My body continues to play tricks on me!
I'm trying not to symptom spot this time but it's so hard.

Each month I've used early response tests but when they come back negative I don't believe it until I've actually started my period (which is always on my expected date) so I find it a loosing battle 😂so hoping to wait this time until my period due date.

Any support to get through this TWW would be amazing!

katie416 · 12/07/2023 17:41

@Lollipop96 Yes please do!! join us in what feels like the longest wait of our lives. Although it’ll not be as long as pregnancy if our tests are all positive 😂 ooh conception cup? I’ve not heard of those! It’s deffo really hard not to symptom spot, every little ache, pain, change in mood etc. that I feel I’m like really over analysing when I wouldn’t normally give it a 2nd thought. So annoying.
When are you due your period? Here to give you all the support 🫶🏼 x

👋 Hi everyone! We’re on cycle 8 TTC baby2! 1DPO, after ovulating a week late, so feels like an extra looooong wait for me. Have also decided not to have any wine during this TWW 😩

Baby dust to everyone - let’s hope we get a whole big bunch of BFPs! Come on March babies! 😆🤞🏻✨

Think I’ll let myself cave, and will test on 22nd July 😅

katie416 · 12/07/2023 18:13

@FoodFann Hi! Welcome! If you don’t mind me asking how long did it take you to conceive your first? I have heard it can take much longer for subsequent babies.

Ah yes sending us alllllll the baby dust 💫 I love the sound of a March baby feel like it’s a good time to be heavily pregnant cos it’ll not be too warm. My first was born in August and it was deffo not the one waddling round in a heatwave 😅 Be even worse now running after a toddler. X

OP posts:
Lollipop96 · 12/07/2023 21:11

@katie416 yes baby dust to everyone! I’m trying to be as realistic as I can be but sometimes my mind just takes over me 😂
I’m due on my period next Thursday but because I ovulated two days later than normal it’s now saying on the app I’ll start on the Saturday!

My app tends to be spot on most of the time so we shall see!
Hope everyone’s staying sane ❤️

FirstTim3Mummy · 12/07/2023 21:21

Snap! TTC #2 and period due on the 20th. My app (My calendar) says I ovulated on the 6th, making today 6 dpo

Two miscarriages last year and possible chemical early this year.

I started progesterone pesseries this morning and have to take 2x a day until 20th and if it's positive to take higher dosages. If it's negative, stop and try again next month.

Wishing everyone good luck 🙏🤞

What period / ovulation apps do others use? Mine is literally called "my calendar" and primarily used for period tracking but also does show fertility window and ovulation day. Not sure how accurate it is though but in terms of period it's usually only a day or two out if not exact each month

katie416 · 12/07/2023 21:39

I’m also due on the 20th (next Thursday) and according to my app 6dpo today! So guess we’ll all be finding out together 🙈
I’m manifesting it for us all 🤞🏼 and we can continue this chat as a due in March 2024 🥰

@FirstTim3Mummy I use one that’s called ‘Period tracker period calendar’ the icon looks like one of those secret lockable diaries you used to have when you were about 10 with a flower on the front - oh the nostalgia 🤣 It’s alright it’s pretty basic but usually pretty accurate give or take a day, so sounds similar to your app! I’m kinda winging it at the moment and going off that but if it doesn’t seem to be working I will invest in some ovulation tests and start tracking it properly. X

Pandabumbles · 12/07/2023 21:44

Can I jump on too? I'm on 2nd cycle of TTC #2. My two previous pregnancies (1st MMC, 2nd DS) i conceived on 2nd cycle so I think I'm hoping same happens again! It might not be quite so quick this time, I was 36 then and I'm 39 now...eek!

I've been tracking for a few months using the Clue app and OPKs just to figure out my cycles but actually had this month off from tracking and it was quite nice! My EWCM is pretty clear sign off O approach for me anyway, so I think I'm about 7dpo today. AF due middle of next week when we're on holiday... don't know whether to sneak a couple of tests in my suitcase or just wait it out! It'll blates be option 1! 😂

Baby dust to you all!

FirstTim3Mummy · 12/07/2023 21:48

Oh yes @katie416 that's the same app, I must have renamed it lol !

@Pandabumbles same as me, 36 when I had my son,now 39. He's almost 3.5 years old
💕

TTC baby #2 - Two week wait
FoodFann · 12/07/2023 22:07

@katie416 we conceived her on cycle 4. How about your first? It’s been a bit of a surprise that it’s taken this long, but I’ve just started to kick it up a notch with supplements and OPKs 🤞🏻😅

Lollipop96 · 13/07/2023 10:15

I’m currently using my Fitbit app which I think has been quite good! You’re able to monitor your ovulation, period and cycles, you can also put in symptoms! So much easier than jotting it down on a piece of paper!
the more the days tick by the harder it is for me to try and not symptom spot.

fingers crossed for us all!

naggy095 · 13/07/2023 11:17

4dpo today and I have tonsillitis so having to take antibiotics now 🥲 hope it doesn't affect anything.
How's everyone feeling and when do you all intend to test? I'll probably test on 9dpo as I have no patience
