Ovulation same day as peak OPK?

So I got my peak yesterday CD12 but last night I had really intense ovulation pains, lasted about half an hour and then at the end I had a very sudden sharp pain on the left, and then all the pain stopped. Is it possible I've ovulated already same day as my peak?? I thought the norm was 12-36 hours after peak OPK. My BBT was slightly raised this morning as well

Whoops meant to say peak on CD11 not 12...
just to add my peak was at 5:45pm and I had the pains around 8pm so only a few hours later

Hey! I guess the peak is only the peak you detected when you tested if you get me... I.e. it's feasible that had you checked mid-morning you'd have had an even higher reading? Therefore, although the one you got at 5.45pm, whilst the highest you saw, could in fact have started coming down again..?

MotherOfShihTzus · 10/07/2023 12:40

I agree with @SnookyPook - could be down to when you tested. How do you get those readings by the way? I've used the tests but didn't know you could read the levels?

naggy095 · 10/07/2023 13:39

@SnookyPook I did a couple other tests yesterday but they were lighter than the 6am one so I removed them from the app as it was messing the chart up 😬 I guess it's not so bad if it's out by one day. We've DTD 3 days in a row so I'm hoping that'll be enough

@MotherOfShihTzus the app is called Premom ovulation tracker 🙂 it scans each test and creates a chart based off your LH levels

Ovulation pains can happen before, during or after ovulation. I always had my pains the day before ovulation (peak day). When I researched it I found most people (if they have ovulation pain) do so 12-24 hours before ovulation

Hi OP
Ovulation generally happens 36hrs from the beginning of your surge, here is a video by a fertility specialist that explains it well.

@River30 I definitely ovulate sooner than that. I had bloods done twice at 6dpo and the results would have been very different if I had ovulated 36 hours after my surge as I wouldn’t have been 6dpo I would have been 5dpo and it would have been too early. The specialist I spoke to said 12-36 hours after.

Hi @allgoodthings84
As the video explains, I meant 36hrs from the beginning of the surge (IE 36hrs from when LH begins to rise, not 36 hrs from the peak) this means that if you have a slow rise with darkish tests over a few days, by the day you get your peak you could ovulate that same day 🙂

naggy095 · 12/07/2023 07:19

@River30 I watched it, makes sense then that I did ovulate when I thought I did as my LH rise was gradual! All my ovulation tracking apps agree with me as well as my BBT rose the next day 😅
Thanks for the info!
