Hi everyone
i had another thread about 2 months ago but didn’t get any traction
I’m due to go for a Hycosy procedure in a couple of weeks with NHS and just want to know anyone else’s experience of it please - we are also due to get all of the results from the tests we have done over the last few months which I’m a little nervous about too.

Did it work for you? Is it super painful? Any tips for making it less uncomfortable?

Any and all info welcome!!

Hi op . I had one a few years ago as it was taking longer than I hoped TTC and I read some stuff online that they can increase probability of getting preg. It wasn’t painful for me at all, but also I didn’t have any blockage diagnosed (I’ve heard it can be painful if you do turn out to have a blockage). The very next month I conceived my DD ☺️. Good luck!

I had one in October 2021. I'd had a number of losses as well as an ectopic pregnancy which claimed one of my tubes. I had also been diagnosed with endometriosis and had polycystic ovaries (but not PCOS). I don't remember it being painful at all or even really uncomfortable. I've had a few internal scans over the years and I just remember it being like that.

And it worked for us. After 3 years we got pregnant with my DS the following month.

Exactly my experience too, including the BFP the next month 💕

3 great stories so pleased for you all, really hoping it’s the same for me!! Thanks all for replying - glad to hear that it wasn’t particularly uncomfortable for you all too 😊

Hey. It is a bit sore but not unbearably so, I thought anyway. It's like period cramps.

@Watchinghurling thanks for replying, good to know 😊

I found this ok and im someone that hates smear tests. I was really worried about it too, but wouldn't worry if I needed another. Good luck OP.

Update for anyone who comes across this - I took 2 paracetamol about 30 mins before but I did still find it quite uncomfortable and slightly painful for the first part but once I relaxed it wasn’t too bad. Took around 20 minutes and the nurses were really lovely but I was glad when it was over
No pain afterwards so far, just a bit of cramping I would say. Definitely not something to be super scared about but not the most pleasant either for me!

We were diagnosed with unexplained infertility as nothing wrong with me or my other half so fingers crossed this has flushed me out and we see a BFP like some of the other ladies here. I will update again if that happens 😊

thanks again to everyone who replied!

@over30sclub just reading through these posts & had to respond too. I also had my HyCosy recently & agree with your experience. They struggled to reach my cervix but once everything was 'set up' the actual procedure was ok. I'm hoping it has done some good. All was good & no blockage so just keeping everything crossed. Hope you're successful in your TTC journey soon too. I will also update if it works for us over the coming months. Been TTC for 2 years now so I'm praying for a miracle. Good luck 🤞

@Rayofsunshine22 all the best to you on your TTC journey. We’re around the same amount of time and it just feels like it’s taking forever, so frustrating especially now there is ‘nothing’ wrong! Really hoping we get a BFP over the next few months & hope you get one too. 😊

@over30sclub
i found mine to be very pinchy as they inserted the catheter.
However, my cervix isn’t straight forward. I’ve had loop biopsy, it then healed over so needing dilating to allow me to bleed, that could be why.
It then felt crampy as they injected the dye but was over in around 30 seconds. No blockage for me. That was in January and I’m still awaiting my BFP :(

Rayofsunshine22 · 28/07/2023 23:20

@over30sclub thank you that's very kind I really hope you get your bfp too! I'm now awaiting on AMH bloo results as it was recommended I get these. My partner has his appointment for detailed seman analysis next week & then we'll see where we are at. But nothing really jumping out that wrong or would prevent me getting pregnant. It's so hard knowing it might never happen for me again. We do have a daughter whose 6. It took along time TTC with her but now this has passed that time scale & I just feel like I must have been so lucky when we conceived with her. Keeping everything crossed for you too
