Evap or faint positive

I'm 8DPO (please don't chastise me for testing early I know it's ridiculous) and have a squinter on a FRER, but keep seeing people say how FRERs always gave them an evap, so I had another cheapie I did but wonder if that's also an evap as the line looks off centre. Everywhere locally and Amazon is out of stock of FRERs(?!)

Looks like a line to me! Looks like my first test at 9dpo. Was it first morning urine?

Ttcmumma · 04/07/2023 17:57

I feel like you'd be super unlucky to get two exact same evaps on two different tests! If this was in the time frame I'd take it as early positives x

Emily907 · 05/07/2023 11:55

Thank you both! No line this morning and af arrived (short luteal phase) so thinking it was a chemical or evaps!

Ok so I'm on day 7 of a very heavy period but was having weird cramps and just did two FRERs this evening and these have come up straight away. Are they dodgy FRERs?! I'm so confused. It's my first postpartum period (DD is 10 months) HELP!

Oh gosh, what dpo would you be?

Emily907 · 11/07/2023 19:36

16DPO so they seem quite faint for that far along... But then again it's not FMU. It doesn't make sense to me, this period has been so heavy.

@Emily907 well that threw a spanner in the works!! It could be an early miscarriage... But also some people bleed in pregnancy, especially early pregnancy and go on to have a viable pregnancy. I think your best bet is to go doctors for some bloods to check if your hcg is rising enough over the next week or so x

Hello, they look positive to me but it may be possible that you've had a chemical pregnancy especially if you're having a particularly heavy period. Maybe try a cb digital in a few days just to be sure? Xx

staybyyou · 11/07/2023 19:45

They are definitely positive tests, however if you are bleeding it could be a symptom of an ectopic pregnancy. I would phone 111 and see what they recommend, I would probably want to be seen.

FiveO · 11/07/2023 19:46

It does seem on the faint side. I think if your tests don't get darker/lighter soon, ringing your Dr and asking for some blood tests to rule out ectopic would be a good idea. Not to scare you, but I had a similar scenario (bfp after an AF, test lines that didn't darken) and it was ectopic. Having an AF and then a healthy pregnancy isn't unheard of 🙂but blood tests would give you a better idea of what's going on.

Emily907 · 11/07/2023 19:51

Oh god I hadn't thought about ectopic, thank you. Will they be able to tell if it's ectopic this early?

OP posts:
FiveO · 11/07/2023 20:00

They won't be able to tell, no. Also don't panic because ectopic isn't that common... Sorry to have added to your worry, it's more something worth bearing in mind rather than something that's an immediate risk.

They won't be able to see anything on a scan yet. However blood tests might give an indication of what's going on. You probably know already, but Hcg should roughly double over 48hr. If it doesn't double as expected, it could indicate an ectopic pregnancy. They'd want to keep repeating the tests and eventually send you for a scan if the results are worrying.

Emily907 · 11/07/2023 20:19

Ok thanks so much, will call the doctors in the morning

OP posts:
Chica1990 · 11/07/2023 23:13

I agree with the doctor comments, they can do blood tests to check it isn't ectopic. I also had similar and was ectopic but have had a baby boy since. Like someone else said I don't want to worry you but if it is it's best to get it sorted ASAP. Good luck!

Chica1990 · 16/07/2023 16:00

How you getting on @Emily907 ?

Emily907 · 20/07/2023 13:30

Hey thanks for checking in. It wasn't ectopic. HCG doubled in blood tests and an early scan today showed a gestational sac and yolk sac but nothing else (am about 5+3). I'm going back in 12 days but they indicated that it was unlikely to be a viable pregnancy given the bleed and not seeing much on the scan.

Mummapenguin20 · 20/07/2023 16:28

Fingers crossed for you

Emily907 · 01/08/2023 10:58

Just to update this thread, a scan this morning showed an embryo and heartbeat so it's now a viable pregnancy. Against all the odds (breastfeeding, short luteal phase and very heavy bleeding). Thanks everyone for your advice.
