PCOS & Myo-Inositol

Has anyone with PCOS found Myo-Inositol helpful?

And can anyone recommend a reputable supplier, please? Holland & Barrett doesn't seem to stock it and I'm wary of online suppliers!

I'm waiting for an appointment to speak to my GP and ask for Metformin (which helped me conceive successfully before), but it'll be a long wait (they don't seem to want to prescribe without seeing me, despite having done so before!) and it would be really helpful to conceive ASAP for various reasons...

Pcos here too.
I emailed solgar to ask if the inositol was myo inositol, they did get back quickly to let me know it was indeed that. They have the capsules- inositol and choline. I took those for a little while, and amongst other things had a surprise bfp
Wishing you the best Flowers

Thanks @WishICouldSmile - good to know you Solgar (I've been researching but feel as though I'm stabbing around in the dark as I'm not familiar with brands etc)!

@poppins
I take a combination of inofolic alpha ( they claim it's more effective than myo alone) and it was highly recommended by alot of women on here. Its quite expensive , a months supply would set you back £40 . Has a mild sherbet like flavour
I alternate between this and viridian myo powder which is a UK brand and manufactured in UK. It has no flavour.
I just mix it in yogurt or fruit juice. You can't taste anything. The viridian dissolves alot better than inofolic. Inofolic tends to stick to the sides of the glass.
I chose to use powder rather than capsules as I just didn't want the added bulking agents , coatings and fillers that the vast majority of capsules have , going into my body and I chose only brands than are manufactured by strict UK/ European regulations.
Alot of them are manufactured in U.s.a . I've seen some questionable ingredients in the past , I don't know how well regulated supplements are in u.s.a but look at the shit the put in their chicken. No thankyou.

I buy inofolic from amazon ( make sure it's sold directly by amazon)
And my viridian I buy from reputable pharmacies online like rightnutri ( its a genuine pharmacy store in london)
I also trust bodykind online and revital

Amazing, thank you @PinkMandalorian, I was just about to ask if this looked like the right supplement when your second post popped up! I guess the 'Inofolic' store must be the best one to use?

I think I'll give it a go... it seems to be recommended by (some) NHS hospitals so there must be some evidence that it works...

I took infacolic, must have worked as I’ve had 2 kids in 2 years! Good luck and hope all goes well x

@Poppins2016 nhs specialist told me to take inofolic alpha got it direct from their website as delivery is super quick, they also do deals if you buy in bulk… 3 months is £90 :)

Antsinmypantsneedtodance · 03/07/2023 22:36

Natures best sell it which is where i gor mine. Never had an issue with them. In fact actually found their customer service really good when i needed it.

I have pcos. I had like a 6 month cycle with no period. Within a week or so of taking it i got a period. I then had a regualr 30-35 day cycle. Got to the point i could tell i was ovulating.

A year or so after starting it i decided to try for a baby. First time trying and was sucessful. That sucess is now nearly 3 years old.

I'm a HUGE advocate for myo-innistol. It's much better than metformin and imo should be suggested to women with pcos. But medical professionals are largely clueless on it. Try it. I continue to take it as i find it helps my mental health and hormonal related ill mental health significantly.

I have been taking inofolic alpha powder for the last six months. In that time, I’ve gone from having a period 2-3 times a year to having regular periods with 30-35 day cycles. I have also started ovulating regularly (EWCM and clearblue tests have proven this).

I would say that it’s definitely worth a go. I bought mine in bulk from the Fertility Family website (makers of inofolic alpha) as they do a deal for a six month supply.

Poppins2016 · 04/07/2023 10:09

Thanks all. I've just ordered Inofolic Alpha direct from the Fertility Family website (cheaper than Amazon)!

I didn't even know it existed until yesterday. Wish I'd known about it sooner as the evidence seems very compelling. Fingers crossed my cycles stop being so 'wobbly' soon...

I'm currently having a vicious period/withdrawal bleed (think my last cycle was anovulatory), fingers crossed it'll help encourage ovulation soon!

Hi,

I'm just wondering, did you also take metformin alongside myo inositol, I was advised I had pcos around about Oct 22 and they put me on metformin (conceived in May but sadly ended in mc at 14 weeks) been trying since August but nothing😔 and was debating taking myo inositol but the doctors said don't take it if I'm on metformin as it can lower blood sugars and now I'm just beyond confused 🙁

I didn't. I stopped metformin as i hated it anyway. If you're not a type 2 diabetic this is generally not an issue.

I stopped metformin and used myoinnistol as a trial period to see how it wemt. For me it performed much better than metformin without the side effects, so stuck with it.

Someonewhojustwantsababy · 01/02/2024 08:49

Thank you, I'm tempted to try it if I come on (due on, on Monday) but haven't had a peak reading on fertility monitor... Although BD every other day so hopefully 😔🤞 I'll let you know how I get on ❤️

Someonewhojustwantsababy · 01/02/2024 08:52

I've bought the freesoul one, I hadn't been formally diagnosed with pcos, they gave me metformin as I said we were ttc and whether it worked or not... I don't know, I did lose 3 stone though by going the gym and eating in a deficit so maybe that helped and I'll try the inositol alongside multi vit, vit D3, folic acid, omega 3 and magnesium x
