Hello! My DD is now 1, and DP and I decided we'd start ttc no.2 next month. I've recently had the results of an ultrasound scan after a bit of ovulation pain that's now resolved. Turns out I have a cyst near my right ovary that's about 6cm (ironically on the other side to where I was having pain). Prior to my pregnancy with DD, I had a year of losses during which I was scanned A LOT. I had cysts, and one in particular was on the bigger side, but honestly that time was so awful I can't remember where. Nobody thought this cyst was a problem at the time, but my midwife said the surgeon for my c-sec might take it out then. I never found out whether he did or didn't, but I'm guessing not - I'll need to request to see my maternity records to find out. So, I think it might be the same cyst...
FFW to now and the locum GP has referred me to gynaecology, and wants to do bloods. He said three times very insistently that he didn't think I had ovarian cancer. I wasn't remotely considering that possibility until he said it! But, the cyst is big enough that he feels he'd be remiss if he didn't investigate further.
DP and me have said we'll wait for the bloods and if there's nothing dodgy there we'll go ahead with ttc as planned. The referral to gynae could take ages so, given I'm 40 now and had to psyche myself up for ttc again, I don't want to wait too long. Is that mad? Would you wait for the referral, even if the bloods were fine? I plan to talk to a doc about ttc again. TBH I was so shocked by the call, I barely processed what this GP was saying. 😐
