Unexplained infertility...Fed up!

Hello everyone,

TTC for what seems to be forever and am so fed up. All fertility tests are "normal" but I continue to spot each month a few days post ovulation. Doctor has essentially said my body won't be able to implant and/or sustain a pregnancy and IVF isn't an option unless the root of the spotting is determined as it will likely continue. Have tried different progesterone pessaries, acupuncture, all supplements etc, but two years on I continue to spot monthly in the week leading up to my period.

I guess I don't really have a question, just felt the need to vent as am feeling hopeless. Feel like I've exhausted every option and am now at the point of accepting that it may never happen. Just seems infuriating as there's clearly something wrong but no idea what!

Anyway, thank you for allowing me to anonymously rant..!

I'm so sorry you're going through this.

Just to say, it took me 18 months to conceive our first. Lots of tests that went nowhere etc.

Then we went on a month long trip to Australia and I conceived my first in our last week.

Good luck!!

@foreverttc I've been trying to conceive for the last 7 years and been diagnosed with unexplained infertility. We begun IVF a year ago. The first transfer ended in a miscarriage with the other 2 transfers failing. We are due to have another in a few weeks. I also spot the week before my period, mainly brown, sometimes pink and most of the time its within 7 days of my period. Proper period normally arrives on day 27/28, I will bleed for that day alone and that's my period done! I've questioned this many times with my consultants and they don't see cause for concern. Hormones can change throughout the month which can cause spotting. My consultant advised if there was an issue with my spotting/periods I wouldn't be producing the eggs that I have been (on paper most have been of good quality, obviously difficult to say for certain without further testing). Continue to push for IVF, if its unexplained then there's always hope.
Good luck on your journey :)

@foreverttc I was wondering if you’d had any updates with this? I’m in a similar boat - ttc number 1, all tests have come back ‘normal’, but I spot every month about 4-7 days before my period (sometimes I spot for half a day/day and then it stops for a couple of days before aunty flo, and other times it is continuous). Had a progesterone test this month which came back normal; doc insists mid-cycle spotting is nothing to worry about but I’m not convinced for the same reasons you suggested. Have also tried acupuncture which I find very relaxing but that’s about it. Anyway, sending support and baby dust!
