Am I definitely pregnant?

Yesterday I was sent home from work with extreme sickness. I threw up 3 times at home and felt awful all night.
took a test this morning and was positive. I’ve taken another 2 this afternoon which are negative. I know it’s probably because hcg is lower now but I can’t help feeling disappointed and need some reassurance.
I’m around 5 1/2 weeks if so. Last period 24th May.

Am I definitely pregnant?

What were the other 2 tests you used? I would've thought if you're 5.5 weeks all would show positive

Kam610 · 28/06/2023 18:01

It's likely the ones you did in the afternoon are negative because ethe hcg in your urine isn't as concentrated. Try again in the morning when you first wake up.

Use a digital one first thing

Anxiousmoo · 28/06/2023 18:28

Same brand, I’m going to test again in the morning. I’m still 6 days away from missed period

How are you 5 1/2 weeks and 6 days away from your period?

Anxiousmoo · 28/06/2023 18:33

Last period was the 24th May, so when I rang my GP they used that date to calculate how many weeks, I’m completely baffled by it all tbh

OP posts:
Anxiousmoo · 28/06/2023 18:34

Also just to add I have a longer cycle

OP posts:
PeeBeee · 28/06/2023 19:31

@Anxiousmoo if you have a longer cycle, you won’t be 5.5 weeks. Do you know when you ovulated? If so, go back 2 weeks from that - thats how i worked out how many weeks I am. My lmp was 4th may so going by that I would be 9 weeks tomorrow but I am actually only 5.5 weeks as I didn’t ovulate to start of June, I know I ovulated 21 May! Fingers crossed with your test tomorrow with fmu🤞🏼

PeeBeee · 28/06/2023 19:32

@Anxiousmoo apologies, I mean I know I ovulated start of June so went back 2 weeks before that to give my doctor a ‘LMP’date of 21 May! X

Anxiousmoo · 28/06/2023 19:48

@PeeBeee Ahhh, I was just asked by the lady on the phone when my last period started, and said 5-6 weeks ish!!
it’ll have been around the 12th, but I’m not 100% sure to be honest as I came off the injection a few months ago and only just getting back to normal and haven’t really been tracking (this is a massive surprise!)
this is all so new to me so I have no idea what’s going on atm 😂 I’ve got terrible sickness and can smell everything x

PeeBeee · 28/06/2023 20:02

@Anxiousmoo yeah irregular cycle girl and this is my 2nd if all goes well so clued up on the irregular period cycles lol. With my first I went by LMP as I didn’t know any better and then went it came to nhs scan, I was scanned way before the 12 weeks but I wasn’t concerned because I knew I wasn’t as far on as they thought, like weeks out, not days! So this time I just worked it out and put my lmp 3 weeks later than it actually was to get a more accurate date!

as for them tests, that looks to pink to me not to he positive so fingers crossed you will know for sure tomorrow with fmu🤞🏼

Kellyaust · 28/06/2023 20:14

Yeah agreed... I would say you're more likely to be around the 3 week mark tbh! Very confusing isn't it because the NHS always go by the lmp date but that's not always accurate

blondewhoneedshelp · 28/06/2023 20:21

How are you feeling now? Play update when you know what's going on. Sending hugs!

satellitesunshine · 28/06/2023 20:25

do you have pics of the other two tests?

Anxiousmoo · 28/06/2023 20:35

@PeeBeee that is so confusing!! I feel a lot better now though. It was a shock but not unwanted so I’ve started to get a little excited.
really hoping it’s a definite positive 🤞🏻

@Kellyaust how confusing 🤦🏻‍♀️ would you say it was only positive in the morning as it’s quite early then as hcg levels won’t be that high yet? Obviously I will keep testing but it’s driving me mad!

OP posts:
Anxiousmoo · 28/06/2023 20:38

@blondewhoneedshelp extremely nauseous, really warm, tired, and having slight cramps/twinges
definitely feel something different going on with my body, it’ll be my 1st pregnancy so I’m not sure what the signs are for me if that makes sense!

OP posts:
Anxiousmoo · 28/06/2023 20:39

@satellitesunshine I don’t, but they are most definitely negative. I’ll test again tomorrow

Yes of you're quite early I would say only test with your first morning urine because afternoons is watered down 🤞

Anxiousmoo · 28/06/2023 21:44

@Kellyaust Thank you so much for replying, this is all very new and confusing and scary 😂 x

OP posts:
blondewhoneedshelp · 28/06/2023 22:01

If it offers any comfort, with my twin pregnancy I only got positives in the morning with my first wee for a long while as the urine is way more concentrated.

All your symptoms seem really reassuring!! Regards nausea, little snacks and often and this will sound super weird but when you wake up after sleeping, before you sit up or stand up, eat a cracker. It really helped me. Also cover your nose 99% of the time. Smells are killer.

You're doing amazing!! So happy for you. Here if you ever have questions or need advice or even just a rant.

Kellyaust · 28/06/2023 22:03

@Anxiousmoo that's OK, I've found everyone on here really helpful so you have a lot of experience and support on here should you need it 💖

Shoemadlady · 28/06/2023 23:45

If you're five days away From period then o wouldn't test again. It's so hard and I think when you / we want it to be positive we look at every single tiny symptom to support a positive test.
Hang on if you can and rest again I nice you've missed a period. Really hope you get the result you want xx

PeeBeee · 29/06/2023 17:23

@Anxiousmoo did you test again? X

Anxiousmoo · 29/06/2023 20:27

@PeeBeee woke up at 4am and couldn’t stop overthinking and stupidly did a test then (after only 4 hours sleep)
negative. Just going to wait til I’m actually late and see what happens. I’ve been sobbing all day but I have some hope left. Thank you x
