Hey just after a little advice as I am driving myself crazy.
So basically I needed the morning after pill (ellaone) twice in the same month. I know it was not something I regularly do and hadn't needed it in a decade but these things happen.
I tested the day period was due and the test was void, the control line didn't reach both sides but there was faint pink line in test side too. I started spotting the next morning very lightly and got a BFN test. After checking with gp i also started on progesterone only pill. This spotting continued every other morning sometimes every 3rd day for a week before full period which lasted 5 days before tapering off. Did the deed 2 days later and started bleeding again, more than spotting but less than full period. It has now been 10 days of constant spotting. I don't know if its the morning after pill or POP causing the spotting but I have had enough. It's been weeks of it. I think I have just thoroughly messed my system up with all the hormones. Has this happened anyone else? Just want some reassurance it's nothing more serious. I have no other symptoms, no pain etc. Do I just let my body get used to the mini pill or should I change to a different one? Or take a break altogether?

The morning after pill is packed with hormones and can really mess up your cycle.

I had daily spotting with the mini pill for over a month before I decided it was not for me (not for that reason). Having read a lot about it it can take a couple of months for your hormones to settle with it.

Did the spotting take long to stop after you stopped taking it? I haven't used anything in years and I know I spotted a lot on different pills.

I think that combined with the mini pill has seriously messed up my cycle. And my moods. Think I might stop and wait for a normal period before I try a different one.

I can’t remember exactly but I don’t think it was long. A few days maybe

I had almost daily spotting towards the end of my implant, and ended up having it taken out early as it was driving me nuts. The GP said they see the biggest disruption to cycles either just after starting a new hormonal contraceptive, or towards the end of a long-term one wearing off.

I’d give it a month or two to settle, and if it doesn’t then go back to the GP. It’s probably just your body struggling to regulate all the hormones in the morning-after and pop.

Thank you it's good to know it should settle eventually. I had ordered another POP with different ingredients that I was told were less likely to cause spotting. But I think I'll wait it out a little longer and see if it settles. However the gp said changing between the 2 wouldn't require any additional contraception so I can keep it as an option if this doesn't settle.
