Hey

A little random, I'm 30 and TTC. I've actually never had chickenpox.. and obviously I know that it can be super bad getting it when you're pregnant. I'm thinking I should maybe go to the doctors to get a blood test to see if I've had it and if I haven't to maybe get a vaccine against it?! x

Hello,
Sorry for the late reply.
Unfortunately pharmacies cannot offer the vaccine to pregnant women, but you can request a blood test to check if you had chickenpox before. Do you have any other kids with chickenpox themselves?
I hope you are doing well!

Hey! No worries at all. My GP booked me in for a blood test as my mum is as curious as me as she was like I swear you've not had it either x

I've always had the blood test to check my immunity to chickenpox and other illnesses as standard at my initial GP appointment in every pregnancy.

If you haven't conceived yet then it's probably safest to get the vaccine (if your GP advises it) although if you've gone this far without catching it you'll be very unlucky to get it while pregnant. Your chances of getting it will probably be highest when you have a small child in creche or school.
