How long after miscarriage/termination should you wait before TTC again?

2 weeks ago I lost a baby at 15 weeks due to triploidy.

Nobody at hospital mentioned how long we should wait so wondered if anyone knew of any reason we shuld wait before trying again?

Hi feb - so sorry to hear about your loss. I hope you are coping ok. I lost my baby at 12 weeks about a month ago now. We were told different lengths of time by different doctors raging from waiting until one AF to waiting for 3. DH and I have been a bit naughty and have done the deed before my first AF. Apparently they only tell you to wait so they can date the pregnancy because to be honest, if your body wasn't ready then you wouldn't get pregnant anyway. I know people that haven't waited and have lost another pregnancy but also those that went on the have a healthy baby. I think you just need to be sure that you are emotionally ready.Good luck with TTC.x

Feb and Popcorn- I'm so sorry for both of your losses. I have been there myself- lost a baby at 13 weeks 16 months ago. I was told that we could start again as soon as the bleeding completely stopped, but that they often tell you wait for AF so that they can date properly when/ if you get pregnant right away. I was so devastated I just wanted another baby, so we started again right away. As it happens, I didn't get AF for 6 months and ended up having to have investigations- but that was just me. I think the main thing is to try to deal with your grief. Looking back I was so upset, so stressed and traumatised that I imagine I wouldn't have been able to conceive anyway. I'm now feeling better and hope this change in mindset will finally help me get pregnant again!

feb - so sorry to hear about your loss. I have a friend who lost a baby at nearly four months of pregnancy, and she had to go into hospital to be induced, it must have been a horrible experience. She became pregnant again in her following cycle - (she didn't have a period in between), and is now about six months pregnant, but she's not exactly sure of the due date. Apart from that all is going well for her.
