So DH and I dtd 21st and in the moment didn't use protection (we realise it was silly but let's be honest, it happens)

We have 1 child already who's 1 and I wouldn't mind having another but DH isn't keen yet and he's right it isn't the right time for us at present due to personal changes in our lives. So I took the MAP the next afternoon. Yet when I looked at my tracking app (as were not actively trying I haven't been paying attention to ovulation and only recently turned this tracker on) it said I was expected to ovulate the day we dtd. Come to think of it I was having more CM a few days before and felt twinges lower left for 2 days prior. So naturally I was worried the MAP wouldn't work as I'd have already ovulated.

I put this to the back of my mind. Usually when I get my period I have crippling cramps, usually alternating ibuprofen and paracetamol for 2 days straight atleast and have spotting for a few days before it turns up. 6th June arrives and there's some brown mucus when I wipe. This turns to red but is very light nothing like my usual. I usually change pads every couple of hours but it wasn't needed this time. It lasted about a day and a half then hardly anything for the next day and a half.

Its hard to know if this is just a side effect of the MAP as some things say lighter periods are normal for it and some say they aren't.

I've done 3 tests since the bleeding started last one was a digital on Saturday evening (all in the evening may I add) and all negative so I thought I was in the clear. But now I'm overthinking maybe I did the tests too late in the day or too early but the 6th would be about 2 weeks since taking the map, about day 14 so surely this would be too late for implantation and tests would have shown by Saturday If I was intact pregnant.

Any thoughts or advice?

Do you still have bleeding?
I’ve been told by a pharmacist that those pills are full of hormones and can mess up your cycle.

Pippinpops85 · 12/06/2023 16:44

@emmatcc1 no it was literally a slow flow for a day and a half then a bit of spotting and nothing much since. It's so hard to tell if it's just my period messed up by the pill or somethjng else

@Unsure01 no haven't retested yet. Do feel a bit sickly but could be just mind tricks or the heat. Also cried a lot but who knows if thats odd 😅

In the inverted picture I see something for sure. If it's implantation retest in 3 days and try again and you should get a definite line 🤞

@Unsure01 I can't see a line. You're very early to be testing.

the MAP really really screwed with my periods, they were all over the place - random spotting here and there and then heavy bleeding for 6 weeks solid to the point i had to get transexamic acid to stop it 😭 so i would just take it as the pill being a pain

ShanxShan · 17/06/2023 15:23

So my period at least i thought it was, started june 14. It was spotting at first barely anything in my underwear only noticeable when i wipe but then it became bright red and little more than spots but still light accompanied by mild cramps. I thought that the reason the cramps were mild was because i took a painkiller before anything started which i had done before on a previous cycle and got no cramps but on the 2nd day the bleeding had reduce and there was not much in my pad but still mild cramping again. On the 3rd and last day of my period was very different. There was barely anything in my pad but i know i there was spotting cause i saw a bit of blood in the toilet. I am trying not to get my hopes up at all. My app says i can take a test today but i am gonna wait until next week just in case. I have notice that my last cycle my period was lightish medium but not like this though but we just gotta wait and see....

Hey @Pippinpops85
So I've been lightly spotting (light pink) since the 14th of this month, yesterday it has gone more red in colour and more noticable. I'm not due my period till 23rd and unsure wether I will still have a normal period or if this is an early period, will just see what happens i guess. I did retest this morning and it's negative.

Did you retest? Or have any more spotting? Hope everything is okay!

Pippinpops85 · 20/06/2023 12:16

@Unsure01 fingers crossed for a positive outcome. Spotting for that long before your period us unusual hopefully it's good news.

No not retested. I have some coming today only because I've been feeling off for a couple of days although I did have a few glasses of wine over the weekend so I thought it was that. Now I just feel like I have a bug. Seen as it would be 4 weeks since the 'incident' which would make me 6 weeks if I was and when I started feeling off with my 1st thought it best to check.

Thanks @Pippinpops85
I really did believe it was implantation bleeding the first few days, I came down with a little cold too which can be a symptom ive read! Wasn't even TTC but its awoken something deep inside me, my one and only child is nearly 14 years old lol

I really hope you get the outcome you want too! Please keep us updated when you test again!

Pippinpops85 · 20/06/2023 16:51

@Unsure01 hopefully you get the result you want, I have a much younger sibling (over 10 year age gap) and loved it.

I did a test when they arrived today and nothing so I must just have a wee bug 🐛

we had unprotected sex 20th October I took MAP on 17th and started bleeding on 27th for under a week. Was this my period or an effect of the MAP?
