Slow FRER line progression?

Pinkmoon23 · 10/06/2023 09:17

Hey everyone, I'm just looking for some opinions or hopefully success stories... I got a verrrrrry faint squinter of a line at 12dpo FMU. At 13dpo FMU it had darkened. I was hoping this morning (14dpo) it would be a lot darker, but it hasn't really changed from yesterday. Should I expect to see a daily darkening or is it every 48 hours normally? I'm really worried its a chemical or ectopic or something. I'm an anxious person anyway and all sorts of what ifs are going through my head now. I thought once you get your positive that's it. But I'm not sure really. Thanks in advance for any opinions/success stories. (lines look much pinker in real life compared to photo quality)

It's really hard to say unfortunately. You are likely going to have to do more tests in a few days.
hcg is suppose to double every 48 hours however I think tests can be affected by hydration etc.

Tomorrow at 15 or even when 16 dpo should give you a clearer answer . I know waiting is so so tough!

Hook effect, looks like it's getting darker but still very faint

Pinkmoon23 · 10/06/2023 10:56

What is hook effect?

Hook effect wouldn’t happen at 14dpo. It’s something that happens after a few weeks of pregnancy. I peed on a test at 5 weeks and the hook effect wasn’t even happening yet, it was just a dye stealer. I’m 11 weeks now so progressing fine.

Anyways, good luck hope u get the results u want 😊

GoneAwayWorld · 10/06/2023 11:17

Are you testing at the same time each day with concentrated urine?

GoneAwayWorld · 10/06/2023 11:24

Hook effect is a false negative. One of the examples of when it can happen is when HCG has risen to such an extent that it messes up the test. This is why some women who are multiple weeks pregnant can get a negative result even though everything is progressing fine.

As other poster has said 14dpo would be way too early for the hook effect.

It could be a chemical pregnancy, but it's too early to fret about that yet. Keep testing.

Your lines are getting ever so slightly darker, so I'll keep things crossed for you that the lines start to firm up properly in the next day or so.

Yeah, all of these are from FMU

Thanks everyone, it's so difficult being in limbo land. Even worse because I have a really bad cold/flu today so can't even keep busy. I wonder if it's related...

@Onemyownhere far too early for hook effect.

OP hcg rises every 48hours ish, so testing every day won’t show much. I will say mine actually got lighter between 11dpo and 14dpo and I’m currently 20 weeks so don’t put too much into testing

You @ me, so ethier way u mentioned my username. Understood before u mentioned it, even though u being 20 weeks pregnant had nothing to do with the hook effect /explanation of it... Take care too

Anyway… OP, is it worth taking a Clearblue early digital to help ease your mind?

I don't think they're as sensitive as FRER?

FiddleLeaf · 11/06/2023 14:47

The CB digi ones should be accurate 6 days before AF is due.

I hope it’s wrong OP and you get another line.

Pinkmoon23 · 11/06/2023 15:27

It's 5 days from period but only 99% from day of missed period.

Tonight's tests... Definitely darker but is it dark enough for 15dpo?

That looks positive to me! Colour & progression over the last few days. A tentative congratulations!

Thank you! I'm still a bit worried its too faint for 15dpo.... But I guess I could have implanted later, happy it's darker, but still in limbo land a bit 😬

That's a fantastic line OP!

ChickenMacaroni · 11/06/2023 20:38

Great line today OP. Could it be something as simple as your dates for ovulation being a couple of days out (so you're 13 dpo now), or that it took a day or two for the sperm to find the egg? I know it's a worrying time but I think there's much to be positive about 😍and I also know that, whatever tomorrow and the next 9 months bring, by that test, today, right now, you are pregnant - and isn't that the most wonderful news?!
