OPK - big confusion

Hi - I normally ovulate on about day 19 of a 30 day cycle. I did an opk on days 15-21 and got a +ve on day 20. We'd been BDing from day 16 onwards.

Anyway, today (day 26) and yesterday I have felt really really odd - quite 'woozy' and just weird. I had pains in where I think my ovaries probably are (!!) and a bit of blood when I wipe (sorry tmi). So I wondered if that was ovulation bleeding. I've just done another opk and it's +ve again!!!

What could be going on? Surely I haven't ovulated on day 26??? Why would I have got a +ve on day 21 and again on day 26?

I think I hate opks!!!

+opk on day 26 could be bfp as they pick up the same hormones. bleed could be implantation. try a hpt.

could be wrong and dont want to get your hopes up but could be

Really? Ok. But I would only be about 5 days pregnant??? Surely not enought to pick up on a hpt? Willing to give it a go though!

Nappyhead · 22/02/2008 14:51

I did a hpt and it was bfn. Still feeling weird though, AF due in 2 days so we'll see. I'm not getting my hopes up.

Congrats to you on your good news x

A pos opk just means
that your body is getting
ready to ovulate but for
some reason you may not
have. If conditions are
right then you can have
another surge and ovulate
later in the month. Get
at it! You may be getting
a second bite of the
cherry this month (grin)

liketosleep - opks and hpts do NOT pick up the same hormone. OPKs detect luteinising hormone, and HPTs detect HCG. Not the same thing at all.

iliketosleep · 25/02/2008 11:43

no hpts and opks pick up the same hormone, i got a bfp on a opk at 9 weeks pg, i had one left over so thought i would use it for fun. It went positive and i panicked thinking that i had m/c and was ovulating again but it turned out that the bfp was correct and after research it is the same thing!

look

iliketosleep · 25/02/2008 11:45

sorry a hpt doesnt pick up ovulation hormone but opks pick up both

Nappyhead · 27/02/2008 19:53

So Af is now 3 days late and I still feel weird though obviously I may be being paranoid. I've just tested again and it was another bfn.

With DS I got a bfp when I was 7 days late so I'm still not convinced by the bfns, but I'm not getting my hopes up either.

I really have no idea what my body is up to and it's very frustrating!

You might have ovulated late - did you BD again when you got the positive on CD26?

I had OV pains this month, plus sharp pains around 7DPO and nausea.tiredness and have just got period bang on time ...our bodies and minds conspire against us!!!

Good luck - are you going to test at the weekend?

Nappyhead · 27/02/2008 21:16

No - rather annoyingly DH was away.

With my rational head on I think AF will come in a day or so.

Although I feel 'odd', I don't think I feel pregnant. I remember how that felt, and I don't think it is this. I do feel a bit sick and a bit tired, but then I have a 2 year old and that's what it does to you!

If nothing has happened by Saturday I will test again.

You are SO right about our bodies and minds conspiring against us.
