Help! Boots pregnancy test

Confusedlady84 · 07/06/2023 13:44

Hello lovely MNs!

long shot I know but could anyone help me with the sensitivity of Boots own pregnancy tests? Not the strips, the actual test.
I foolishly threw the packaging / leaflet away (not sure I can blame baby brain just yet!). I did the test earlier today (not FMU, barely a few drops to be honest but I got excited 😆) and it’s come up with a very faint positive. I would think I’m around 12dpo. Had a strong positive ovulation test on Thursday 25th/ morning of Friday 26th May so I reckon I ovulated either that Friday or Saturday. If the tests are quite sensitive then there’s obviously a chance it could be a chemical as I imagine the line would likely be stronger. Don’t really want to have to pop out to buy another one as it’s a good 15 minutes drive from me so hoping by some miracle someone will have the answer for me! 🤲

Hey, Is it the early detection test one? If so they are 10ml. It gave me a faint but noticeable positive at 12dpo a few months back. I find them really good x

Confusedlady84 · 07/06/2023 14:21

Hi @Naomi2023 yes that’s the one! Thanks for answering me 😊 Hmmm so they’re quite sensitive…that probably doesn’t bode well! I thought mine was negative initially as I did it and then noticed a minute later that there’s a faint line. Think it’s probably too faint though 🫤

If it was in the time frame then it's more than likely a positive as I have done alot of these tests, and I mean alot 😅 and I have never had an indent or evap line on them and mine was very faint at 12dpo. X

Naomi2023 · 07/06/2023 14:25

Have you tried inverting a picture of the test? X

Confusedlady84 · 07/06/2023 14:29

Ha! Me too - I could make POAS an Olympic sport 😀 Don’t think I’ve ever tried boots - or at least not for years. I might try and test again on Friday morning to see if there’s any change (I say Friday, I’ll no doubt crack tomorrow and be darting round boots like a crazed woman at 8am!) Praying it’s a proper positive 🙏🏻

Naomi2023 · 07/06/2023 14:35

Aww I honestly understand this need. It plays on your mind once you've seen the faintest line and i always NEED to know asap so I can't hold out 😆 so that is so me too! No willpower when it comes to testing. X

Naomi2023 · 07/06/2023 14:36

Try inverting a picture of your test though, that's helped me when ive had the faint lines x

Confusedlady84 · 07/06/2023 14:48

I’m glad you get it! I haven’t stopped thinking about it and keep checking the test (as if it’s suddenly going to turn 8 shades darker!? 🙄) I feel like I need to know NOW. There’s definitely a line there but it’s faint, I’ve had other positive tests around the same time and they’ve always been much darker so that’s what’s worrying me. Hoping I’ll do one Friday (read: tomorrow) and it will be darker 🤞🏻 x

Naomi2023 · 07/06/2023 14:56

Yes that's exactly me! 😅 update whatever the outcome 😊 and goodluck! 🥰 x

Confusedlady84 · 07/06/2023 14:58

Will definitely update! I hate when I read threads and you’re left hanging 😃 thanks for your support! X

OP posts:
Naomi2023 · 07/06/2023 15:01

Yes me too haha and your very welcome! X

Hankthehonk · 08/06/2023 06:28

I've switched to using these boots tests and think they're the only type I've never had an indent or evap on.
I get the obsession too, I took so many tests last month I was stood outside desperately waiting for boots to open before work. That was because of a faint line on a frer that turned out to be nothing.
Really hope yours is something! Keep us posted

Confusedlady84 · 08/06/2023 07:23

@Hankthehonk thank you! I looked at it again this morning (of course I did 🫣) and it’s definitely a faint pink line. Just hoping it gets stronger 🤞🏻 I said I’d hold off until tomorrow…but I’m already planning a boots trip this morning! Will update x

OP posts:
Confusedlady84 · 08/06/2023 07:25

@Hankthehonk also, I’m sorry yours turned out to be an indent - it’s so tough when you get your hopes up 🙁 hopefully you’ll get your positive soon x

Looking forward to your update, good luck x

Confusedlady84 · 08/06/2023 09:18

ahh not good news ☹️ took two tests (boots and frer) and both showed a faint line but I’ve just started spotting. Given I’m now two days late and all the tests have had faint pink lines I think it’s safe to say it’s a chemical and not three duff tests! Have to say I feel a bit gutted but equally I’m glad my body is doing what it needs to do as I’ve had MMC at 3 months before so this is much easier to deal with. Fingers crossed this summer will be THE summer! 🤞🏻 Thanks for your help x

Naomi2023 · 08/06/2023 09:29

Aww no really sorry to hear that but I can understand you finding this easier as they must of been very difficult to deal with. I had an ectopic a few months back and was lucky enough to be treated with methotrexate and not have to have my tube removed. That was incredibly difficult to deal with as it continued for a very long time and this is our first month that we can start ttc again so im hoping for some good luck although doubt it will happen on the first month. Good luck and wishing you all the luck in the world for next month and your next pregnancy. You will get there ❤️ x

Confusedlady84 · 08/06/2023 09:34

@Naomi2023 Oh gosh you poor thing! What a relief you didn’t lose a tube but that must have been a scary, upsetting time for you. Oh I’ll keep everything crossed that this month works for you. Best of luck! And maybe I’ll see you on the pregnancy boards in the not-too-distant future 😊 x

OP posts:
Naomi2023 · 08/06/2023 09:40

Yes it was, epu wasn't to great tbh with dealing with it. Went in with bleeding on the 18th of Feb and wasn't given my methotrexate until the 29th of March. So it's been a long road but hoping for some good luck in my next pregnancy 🙏 hoping to see you on the pregnancy boards to very soon! 💕 x

Confusedlady84 · 08/06/2023 09:47

Oh I’m so sorry that sounds so tough and can’t believe you were left in limbo for so long. My experiences have been a bit hit and miss with my epu - some lovely nurses / sonographer as and some less so! Definitely sounds like you’re due a huge big dollop of good luck ❤️ Are you in your TWW wait or haven’t tried yet this month? X

OP posts:
Confusedlady84 · 08/06/2023 09:48

Meant to type sonographers!

OP posts:
Naomi2023 · 08/06/2023 09:58

Yes same with me, sonographers was lovely and also some nurses but some also not so lovely 😒 I hope so, would be nice to have some luck on our side some time soon. Not in my tww yet currently on cd6 and due to ovulate in a weeks time but the days seem to be going soo slow. I just want to be in the tww now 😆 x

Confusedlady84 · 08/06/2023 11:55

Well I hope the next week goes by quickly so you can get cracking 😆 good luck with it all!! X

Hankthehonk · 08/06/2023 13:09

@Confusedlady84 Sorry to read your update, you must be disappointed but well done being so philosophical about it. Sorry for your loss as well - I also had an mc in March and while I'm desperate to be pregnant again I'm nervous too. You're totally right about a chemical being easier but it still sucks and I hope you're being kind to yourself

Confusedlady84 · 08/06/2023 17:27

@Hankthehonk Thank you for your kind words and I’m sorry to hear you also had a MC in March. Totally get the nerves! I’ve had a couple of miscarriages and it does make you anxiety-ridden. If it’s any help, I did go on to have children afterwards and while I was a bit of a nervous wreck for 9 months all was well in the end ❤️ Good luck with your journey x
