Low progesterone advice

Hi all,

My day 21 bloods are 31. My GP wasn't concerned but I've just met with a fertility specialist who advised I should be closer to 60 when ttc.

The problem is, I have tried progesterone pessaries (800mg) but unfortunately they did not work (i.e. I continue spotting a few days after ovulation). My doctor doesn't seem to have any other suggestions.

Can anyone share any idea on other ways to increase progesterone? Or share any success stories if you've had something similar?

I had success with taking B vitamins. Never diagnosed or investigated as low progesterone but I have all the symptoms. It changed my cycle - longer luteal phase, shorter overall cycle. Recently stopped taking it and I’m going to restart - have awful PMS and my cycle was super weird. So it definitely does something!

Thanks for the reply!

Unfortunately I already take every recommended supplement under the sun but to no avail! So good that you noticed such a positive difference though. I will keep taking them in the hope of some change...!

Two consultants have told me anything over 30 nmol/l means you've ovulated and not a concern

@Emi88 I had a progesterone blood test on transfer day. They wanted me at 30. I was at 20. I was already on two cyclogest a day so they prescribed me lubion injections. I am now 9 weeks and still taking the injections xx

@CR7 thanks so much for your comment. I know it's an old thread. I have FET today and the just rang to say my levels are 21. I got so disheartened and they are starting me on Lubion today so your post gave me some home. Hope all is going well with your pregnancy Smile

I’m taking B6 as heard it helps with low progesterone / haven’t retested though to see if it’s changed. Mine was 28.5 so a bit lower than yours

50 mg b6 daily

Zinc daily too

B6 also minimises miscarriage risk by 50 percent

Zinc also helps

I’ve read this too! I wondered if that due to a lot of miscarriages maybe being due to low progesterone/luteal phase defect due to progesterone etc? Interesting
