I am CD29 still waiting for ovulation, first cycle ttc#2 and so fed up of peeing on opks! Ughhh

How do you long cycled ladies keep sane? I don’t think I have it in me to dtd every other day and not track ovulation!😅

I was ovulating cd40+
Last month was my first month on ovulation induction ( clomid) and I ovulated cd19.
This month I'm currently cd17 but have absolutely no signs of ovulation happening anytime soon.
Honestly feel like cracking up some days

PeeBeee · 01/06/2023 15:36

@MK85 my last cycle i ovulated cd30, one before that I ovulated cd43. There is no rhyme or reason to them which is why I need to test for ovulation but so disheartening seeing weeks upon weeks of nothing even nearly positive!

i started ovulation support by conceive plus but so far not doing anything for me (i do think it helped with dd or it could have been a massive coincidence!) Is it worth talking to my doctor to see if they can prescribe anything for ovulation?

@MK85 cd19 is would be incredible! Fingers crossed you arent too far off that again this cycle!

@PeeBeee most gps won't prescribe anything. What they do is refer you to see a gynaecologist who will run bloods and prescribe medication to try and induce ovulation.
Your gp won't refer you unless it's been over 2 years of ttc if under 35, unless your over 35 then you only need to be trying for 6 months before getting referred for investigation.
You could probably see your gp to run some basic blood tests tho . That's what my gp did and I was diagnosed with pcos but she was reluctant to do anything more as fertility isn't a gps field of expertise

@MK85 thanks for the info! I am 33 so will just patiently wait to my body decides to release an egg! Stressing about it is probably not helping at all!

Could you possibly have any hormonal issues? I've also been taking conceive plus ovulation support plus myo inositol and I feel it's helped somehow. Before , I rarely had a period 1-2 a year. I started them In November 22 and fell pregnant in december ( lost it) after my first ever back to back period in well over 10 years. I did have a hsg dye which I know probably helped since alot of women say they fell pregnant following that procedure but I think the inositol must have contributed since I had a perfect 28day cycle that month. Ever since that tho my cycles have got later and later each month. Well, I suppose at least I'm having cycles now. The clomid was supposed to help give my eggs a boost since I have pcos they often don't reach maturity but I'm thinking this month is not working since ive no signs its going to happen anytime soon and i had no side effects from the medication this month. Not sure why it worked first month and not this month but have a feeling I'm own my own this month and my body will ovulate when it wants or if it wants. So bloody annoying isn't it. I chart bbt aswell and use ferning beside opks so it's such a torture every day

Do you have any of the other symptoms of PCOS? I was initially diagnosed 10years ago on the basis on very long cycles (80-90days, current cycles are around 60days). It meant when i was ttc, i was basically on a fertility clinic fast track as i was already in the system. That obs wouldnt help you immediately without a diagnosis, but my GP would def refer for some blood tests initially to check if you are ovulating. You'll have to go in armed with some knowledge though as my experience is most GPs are not v knowledgeable about PCOS. When the initial bloods came back, i was referred to endocrinology who helped with initial control of systems, then when ttc, i was prescribed metformin which brought my cycles back to 28days, but i still didn't ovulate so endocrinology referred me to the fertility clinic directly without having to do the 2yr wait.

Agnus castus may be your friend here - Health food shops sell. Helps with cycle length and I also found ttc was helpful too

CurlyWurly1991 · 01/06/2023 20:47

Second the agnus castus recommendation. Have irregular and long cycles (unexplained) and seeing a medical herbalist. First month on my herbal mix and looks like I’ve ov’d cd21.

PeeBeee · 03/06/2023 13:42

cd31 and finally a positive opk! Fingers crossed ovulation follows over the next 48hours!! Dtd tonight and tomorrow, assuming it does!

I'm only on month 1 of trying to conceive but I also have long cycles so it's very hard to predict ovulation :(. My last 6 have been:

42 days
36 days
44 days
40 days
36 days
49 days

PeeBeee · 16/10/2023 15:46

@Blueberry1990 do you use opks? I sweat by the easy@home ones!
I am now 20+6 weeks pregnant as this peak was in fact accurate and I conceived🥰

*swear lol

Blueberry1990 · 16/10/2023 18:18

Ahh that's amazing news.
I've just started using them 1 week ago

PeeBeee · 16/10/2023 18:21

@Blueberry1990 i was so disheartened peeing on them several times a day and not seeing anything remotely positive but without them there is no way I would have found my peak & I could have sex several times a week then no sex for a month so I couldn’t rely on luck without doing them! Hang on in there! I think i started opks around cd20 as my cycles were around the 45 mark! Good luck! X

Thank you so much that's very good to know!!

I started my tests on cd21 (day after I returned from honeymoon) and haven't had a peak yet but I may have missed it so will see how it goes starting them after my next AF

Blueberry1990 · 14/12/2023 16:57

I just want to come back with my own success story, even though I have long cycles due to PCOS I fell pregnant on our first month trying and using ovulation tests ☺️ I'm now around 7 weeks pregnant

curliegirlie · 14/12/2023 17:09

Agnus castus worked for me - may be worth a go? It brought to an end what ended up being an 146 day cycle. At around the same time I was diagnosed with hypothyroidism and prescribed Levothyroxine, but as I'd only been on the meds a matter of days when I ovulated, I think it was more likely the agnus castus that finally helped me ovulate (then in subsequent cycles my THS levels were back down to a sensible level so I ovulated around day 17 - the relief!!).

PeeBeee · 15/12/2023 08:20

@Blueberry1990 congratulations!! Thats amazing news!! Xxx
