Good Evening Ladies,

Please someone help me.

I've got quite a sensitive body. It reacts super badly to many medications and you can bet your bottom dollar i will experience most side effects to everything. I chose the Copper coil as birth control because of the lack of hormones. im frustrated i didnt do more research if im honest, i am in agony. I have period pains every day still, still bleeding, not heavy but definitely constantly wearing pads and the biggest issue i have is the bloat! My whole stomach feels rock solid and the upper bloating is agony. Please please can someone tell me if they've experienced this?

I had it a while ago for around 2 years. I can’t believe I kept it that long the periods were absolutely horrendous. I’d never have it again.

Unfortunately another one here that had to take it out because of the pain. Unsurprising, really, as there was a foreign body lodged in my uterus, emitting an element that is essentially toxic to the body, even if mildly so. Looking back, I wonder why I did it, but that was probably because it offered a hormone free option that wasn't condoms. Sorry, not very helpful!

I had the same experience. I wanted the mini copper coil which was smaller than the normal sized one, apparently there were supply issues back then and I got the normal sized one without knowing. It was uncomfortable, constant cramps and loads of yellow CM (gross), awful periods. I got it out after 9 months. It did take 2-3 weeks for it to settle initially, if you're still in severe pain next week I would go back to your GP.

@blondewhoneedshelp for me I had pain and 6 weeks of bleeding on and off then after that no periods, no bloating and no pain best thing I ever done was get it and I had it in for 5 years. My body was trying to reject it like yours mine is sensitive and reacts to everything so the doctor said and just to try and persevere if it got really bad go back to get it removed. Hope it gets better for you soon ♥️

Hi! I had a similar experience in the early days with the copper IUD - terrible cramps, extremely heavy periods. I had it in for 5 years in the end (mostly because I was terrified to get it out because I had a pretty traumatic experience getting it put in!) and over time the symptoms did settle. Overall, even after 5 years my periods were heavier and more painful than usual but definitely manageable. I had it removed around a year ago and straight away my periods were lighter and less painful. For me, I felt it was worth it to avoid hormone containing contraceptives as progesterone-only options didn’t agree with me.
