PCOS and not ovulating

Does anyone else have PCOS and not ovulate? I was so excited yesterday because I got a flashing smiley on a ClearBlue ovulation strip for the first time and an Easy@Home ratio of 0.77. My temperature rose today, so I thought I might actually be ovulating today. Then someone else with PCOS looked at my chart and said I'm not ovulating because there is no clear peak and my temperature is all over the place. I know there is medication you can go on to force ovulation but I'm a while away from a year of TTC (which is when they would prescribe Clomid) so today I just feel sad. It would be great to hear from other people in the same boat as it feels so isolating.

I would agree that that isn't enough of an obvious peak sorry :( I have pcos too so know how rubbish it is not ovulating! Have you asked your GP about metformin or tried inositol? Both of these and lowering carbs help me ovulate regularly, I get peaks like this but would just get forever 0.3s before I started taking them!

Literally had been off contraception for over a year and had 3 periods in thay time before taking metformin and inositol! Whereas now have regular 30 day cycles if I keep it up :)

Thanks for sharing your chart - happy to see you're ovulating now. :) I can't go on metformin because I'm a type 1 diabetic. I think I might stop tracking and give up until I can go on Clomid because it's just upsetting.

Try inofolic OP.

Oh I hadn't heard of that, thank you. Not sure if I can take it as I'm already on 5mg of folic acid, but I'll check with a health professional :)

I'm sorry OP :( that complicates things! The PCOS nutritionist podcast is amazing, there may be some other ideas there that may help that you can do alongside your T1D in the meantime. Totally know what you mean it's so frustrating having to wait a year when you're not even ovulating.. like you know what the problem is why can't they speed it up when that's the case! Wish you all the luck and in the meantime just do what feels right for you tracking wise ❤️

@Endogal sorry to butt in but will your doc prescribe metformin or inositol even if you’ve only started trying? My cycles are pretty long - ranging from about 44+ days!

I am currently 1st cycle trying but already stressed about missing ovulation as they are so unpredictable. I have started conceive plus ovulation support but currently CD22 with no sign of an LH surge yet. I am having light cramps and keep thinking here we go but tests are low!

@PeeBeee I'm not sure! It can't do any harm to ask though! I was only having a period every 4 months or so when I was prescribed it and had been trying a year but they'd been investigating why I wasn't having periods for a while so I dont think its strictly a year!

With the conceive plus ovulation support when I looked into it apparently the d chiro inositol was taken out of it a while back and thats an important part for supporting ovulation so you could try a different inositol supplement in the meantime that does have it! When I saw a fertility specialist she was very insistent I took vitamin D too.

@Endogal thanks for your reply! Every 4 months is so long so it’s great you are now ovulating regularly!

I suppose 44 day cycles aren’t so bad when it’s put into perspective, I got to be patient! I will see how long this cycle is and then maybe call the doc for a chat!

@Endogal I believe they likely took d chiro out as recent studies have now shown it actually can make pcos worse and elevated levels of d chiro in the body has been shown to significantly impact egg quality. Alot of them have taken it out and its recommended that a higher ratio of myo is superior
