Not pregnant yet - currently TTC (let's hope it's our month 😉)

I know they count due dates from your last period but I am a late ovulater - I wondered out of interested does that effect your due date?
I know we are talking days here but I find it all fascinating !!!

They'll go by your scan. I had my due date worked out based on my last period and length of cycle but the date they gave me based on my first scan was 6 days earlier.

Yes I would think so, but only by a few days. They will date scan you.

Yes - when I got pregnant with DD in 2021, my inital expected due date (going by last period) was a few weeks off as I am a late ovulator (cd20-30!) so as I tracked ovulation I knew the day I ovulated and added 2 weeks prior to that date (as that would be the average 28 cycle) for my due date rather than last period if that makes sense and that was pretty accurate then at my 12 week scan! Baby dust to you! X

your “first” due date eg the one from the day of your last period will always be the same no matter when you ovulated. So technically your fetus could be days older/younger than another fetus even if the mothers’ last periods started on the same day. This due date is what you give to midwives at your booking appt.

when you go for your dating scan (around 12 weeks), they will give you a more accurate date based on the size, at which point ovulation/conception date is likely to play a part in the due date changing.

Generally.

With my daughter, I knew that I ovulated on cycle day 20, so when I told the hospital the first day of my last period I just moved the date forward 6 days. That gave the hospital the due date I had in mind and I actually ended up going into labour on that day too.

With my son, I didn't bother.

I am the opposite - I ovulate early and shorter cycles. At my dating scan they brought the due date forward - by 5 days if I remember right
