Implant Removal and Ovulation

Hi all, grateful for some insight. I had the contraceptive implant removed this morning as we are hoping to try for baby no.3. The implant stopped my periods, I had some bleeding about 2 weeks ago which was unusual as I haven't had any since I had the implant in. My first question is, does this bleeding count as a period? If so then I'm kind of bang on ovulation time right now?
My second question is how do I work out where I am ovulation/cycle wise? I know I could wait for my next period which would obviously tell but is that the only way? Is it worth me taking an ovulation test before then?
I'm aware it may take a while to get pregnant and fully prepared for that but the other, irrational part of me has got the bit between my teeth and wants to get started trying Grin

Yes, I'd count the bleed as CD1. I have no direct experience, as I went straight from implant to combined pill, but a few months later I had a surprise pregnancy (which sadly ended in early MC), so I think things went back to normal pretty quickly. However, it's now been 14 months since the MC and nothing else, although my cycles have been regular ever since.

Thank you @curliegirlie It can be hard to work out as it is even without adding contraceptives into the picture but I think you're right and I'll take the last bleed as CD1 and just track from there and hopefully things fall into place soon enough. I'm so sorry for your loss 😢 I too have had a MC, it's a really specific, raw type of pain. I hope you get your BFP soon ❤️

Hi OP 😊 if your implant was still in date when it was removed, the bleeding you had was not a period so not CD1. You can get pregnant pretty much immediately following implant removal; the earliest recorded ovulation is 12 days after removal.

@WetBandits thank you! This is literally the answer to the question I've been looking for. I actually did take an ovulation test and it came back negative which makes sense now because if the bleeding I had while I had the implant was in was CD1 I would have been ovulating but I wasn't so this adds up. I'll just have to wait for my period I suppose to then know when CD1 is and try in the meantime. It's all a bit of a guessing game 🙈

I usually recommend waiting for your first period after implant removal to start TTC just to help with dating 😊 no harm at all if you fall pregnant immediately but just makes it a bit easier to pinpoint if you wait for your first clear period!

Best of luck and baby dust 🧚‍♀️

I had a dc 9 months and 10 days post removal. No bleed or period in between..

Somewhat ironically all I got me period today 😁 which means I do at least know where I'm at. Fingers crossed when it's gone we can make a baby 🥰 thanks for all your replies, really appreciate it
