Clomid

Hi everyone, looking for some sort of reassurance/success stories. Im due to start my first cycle of clomid in July. I’m 38, have regular cycles, 28-30 days, been told everything is normal, partners sperm count is normal, but we’ve been TTC for 18 months with no luck 😔. Starting to lose hope so wondering if anyone has been in a similar situation? I’ve never been pregnant so that’s making me wonder if it’s even possible for me

@Barney2009 hey how are you getting on?
I’m currently on my first Clomid cycle (50mg) due to PCOS and no ovulation. I had a scan on CD9 which showed no follicle growth so I’m feeling a bit negative about it. Going back on CD13 for another scan.
I know how you feel with feeling like it’s not possible but there are so many treatments out there. Keeping everything crossed for you!

@Barney2009 hey there. I'm 37 TTC #1. I've just completed one clomid cycle , I did ovulate but no success. Started the first tablet of my second cycle yesterday so 🤞

hummingbirds1 · 20/05/2023 22:24

Hi,
I have pcos and had to have clomid. My now 10 year old was born from the second cycle. I then went on to have another two children entirely naturally after this.
Wishing you luck.

acttc93 · 21/05/2023 07:18

@MK85 hello, just out of interest did you have any follicle tracking scans? Best of luck for this cycle!!
I’m on my first cycle and had a scan on CD9 which didn’t show any growth (but loads of follicles due to PCOS). I have another scan tomorrow (CD13) but I’m not feeling very hopeful as all of my opks are negative!

Barney2009 · 21/05/2023 09:05

@acttc93 sorry to hear there was no follicle growth this time. Have you had any side effects from the Clomid? I do ovulate already and it can be quite painful some months so I’m wondering how the clomid will be with that. Keeping everything crossed for you too

@MK85 thanks for sharing. How long have you been TTC and how are you finding the clomid? Do you normally ovulate or have they given you the clomid to help you with that?

acttc93 · 21/05/2023 09:09

@Barney2009 thank you, maybe tomorrow will show something different but I’m not convinced!
I had a few hot flushes whilst on Clomid and some headaches/bloating a few days afterwards. Hope your ovulation isn’t too painful!

MK85 · 21/05/2023 12:49

@Barney2009 I have pcos and don't ovulate regularly. We've been trying 18 years, although we took a break during covid. I went to gp when I was 33 and its taken this long to get this far. I got pregnant in december but lost it at 5 weeks . 5 months later no luck . I feel like it was just a fluke. Ttc is so fustrating isn't it

MK85 · 21/05/2023 12:53

@acttc93 yes I had a follicle scan on day 9 , they said that was too early and should be done day 12 13 or 14 but they wouldn't bring me back. I had a positive opk on day 19 and I had a blood test 5 days later which confirmed ovulated but just didn't get pregnant this cycle

Barney2009 · 21/05/2023 13:05

@MK85 oh gosh, sorry it’s been so difficult for you. We’re coming up to 2 years trying so I can’t imagine how you must feel. It is so frustrating especially when it’s “unexplained” just makes you feel a bit lost with it all and constantly wondering why. Wishing you lots of luck

Hi OP! I'm 33 and we were ttc for 18 months when we started clomid. No known fertility issues.

1st cycle I had lots of OV pains and bloods confirmed ovulation. No pregnancy.

2nd cycle I didn't feel anything so I assumed I hasn't ovulated. Well.. I was wrong and I'm now 4 months pregnant.

Best of luck!

acttc93 · 21/05/2023 15:51

@Alloveragain3 congratulations! Hope your pregnancy is going smoothly so far. Did you have any follicle scans when on Clomid?

Alloveragain3 · 21/05/2023 15:53

@aacttc93 Hey! No, no scans. It was prescribed privately through a fertility consultant in the UK. He just did a progesterone test on day 21 to confirm ovulation.

And I'm definitely pregnant with a singleton!

Barney2009 · 21/05/2023 17:10

@Alloveragain3 that’s wonderful news! Congratulations! Thanks for giving me a bit of hope 😊

Hi there!

Hope you don't mind me jumping in.
I have too many follicles on my right ovary. Left one is normal. Was told that I have polycystic appearance. I have been having follicle tracking scans and they did see a follicle and I had to go back a couple of days later and it had grown to correct size. When I went back for a blood test it had shown that I had not ovulated.

I have another follicle tracking scan tomorrow and if it is negative then they will put me on ovulation induction medication.

I have been ttc for 2 years now, have regular periods but have not gotten pregnant. All other fertility tests I have done are all fine.

Feeling extremely frustrated, but hopeful that I will get the induction medication and I have been trying my hardest to keep calm and not stressed and stick to a Mediterranean diet.

I hope to hear some positive stories on here and others journeys ☺️

acttc93 · 22/05/2023 11:09

Update.. CD13 and still not much growth. No follicles over 9mm! Back again on CD15 and if the same, might need to cancel the cycle and either up the dosage or try Letrozole.

angstridden2 · 22/05/2023 11:53

Prescribed Clomid several decades ago as could never detect temp changes and they hadn’t invented ovulation detector apps! Got pregnant third course, needed another course for second child. No side effects even without any monitoring (they didn’t in those days, just left you to it).

Leannexoxo · 08/10/2023 09:27

Hi ladies

just Thought I would share my journey with pcos& clomid…..

so me and my partner decided ttc we tried for 4 years it was unsuccessful I was diagnosis with pcos I was already under the fertility clinic at this point. I was prescribed clomid 50mg and then was told to double on the next round as I hadn’t ovulated once I got my period, however I never got a period and actually found out I was 6 week and 6 days pregnant with my ds who is now 3 due to be 4 in January.

when My ds was 2 I then decided to try again took 50mg clomid again and boom pregnate first time again! This sadly ended in Mc at 8 weeks.

Then after 3 months break I then tried again 50mg of clomid failed 3 rounds so decided it wasn’t our time and had a years break.

in may of this year I was prescribed clomid again I took my first cycle in June fail again in July failed so I doubled the dose myself in august this also resulted in a failed cycle. after this failed cycle I decided at this point to wait till my next appointment back at the fertility clinic where I was then going to try femera as I’d now had 6 failed cycles of clomid and it was taking a tol on me and my mental health.

little behold a miracle has happened and I have got a bfp on a NATURAL cycle! I have never been on birth control and I have never been pregnant before without medication! I am 28 years old This is a miracle it’s true what they say put it to the back of your mind stop stressing and it just happens!!

below are my tests a vvvvvvv faint on a cheapy and bfp on clear blue!

sending lots of baby dust to you all xx

That's amazing news, a massive congratulations and thanks for sharing your journey xxx

Rljnz · 23/10/2023 19:27

Can I ask, when you was on clomid - did you become more emotional or have any symptoms when finishing the course? Not long just finished my second round 🤞🤞🤞

Leannexoxo · 23/10/2023 22:32

Hi
I would definitely say clomid is an emotional rollercoaster some Months we’re worse than others you just have to grin and bare it even those some days I questioned was it worth putting myself through it for a failed cycle

when I doubled the dose to 100mg on my last round strangely this was the cycle I barely had any side effects from but I would defiantly say you will notice a difference in mood swing and hormones whilst on clomid mine tend to settle after 1/2 Weeks after a period finger crossed for you xx

Rljnz · 27/10/2023 12:50

Thanks Hun, xx
