TTC while breastfeeding- no period

Hi everyone,

We've decided to start TTC no 2. Our 1st is 9 months and I've not had my period back yet. She is EBF (never taken a bottle) and is now eating solids well. Hoping my period will return soon.

Just wondering if anybody has experience of conceiving while feeding? Or recommendations on supplements/vitamins to take to help gently encourage AF to return.

I appreciate our first is still young but would love to add to the family soon! I also won't stop feeding her until she seems ready.

Thanks in advance!

I had no issue conceiving while breastfeeding, however both times af only came back when I started giving milk to drink at 1 year. Everyone’s different though!

Thank you! This is reassuring. I know I just need to be patient and wait for AF to reappear but that's easier said than done 😂

My DS is proof that you can get pregnant whilst breastfeeding. We’d decided to let nature decide when our next child arrived. So we have a 13 month gap.

I didn’t have a period between pregnancies and just remember my sense of smell intensiFied and lo and behold I found myself pregnant.

it was a bit unexpected as I assumed that breast feeding was a natural contraceptive!

That must have been a surprise! I'll keep everything crossed we fall into a similar situation. Thanks for your reply

Hey @Elfy11

Old thread I know but was wondering how you got on with this?

Outliers · 23/01/2024 13:54

If actively breastfeeding I wouldn't bother actively trying to conceive.

If it happens it's a nice surprise, but cycles can be too irregular to determine ovulation. Just my view though.
