Hello! I’m 30, with PCOS, trying to conceive our first child. I’m on my first cycle of letrozole - took the pills last week and have a monitoring scan on Friday. How far are you through the cycle? X

NLO94x · 18/04/2023 15:52

At what stage was you prescribed clomid? I'm still waiting on a gyni referral and I don't think it's going to be any time soon :(
Good luck I really hope it works for you x

@graceinc22 Currently cycle day 7. I have my monitoring scan on Thursday

@NLO94x I was prescribed it pretty much straight away once I got the referral and they did bloods. It was the first thing that was mentioned at my first appointment. My referral had taken almost 3 years 😔 it's such a long waiting game isn't it.

They originally prescribed clomid to me last year and when we were due to start our first course we suffered setbacks with his results / other investigations that we discovered I needed done . I eventually fell pregnant naturally in december but it ended up in a loss . Its taken my body a few cycles before I felt ready to start clomid.

Hi can jump in on this post. Only just onto cycle number 2 ttc baby no2. I have had awful irregular cycles since having my DD in 2021.. almost 2 years now. Can I ask what your cycles would have been like? Im getting bloods done this week and PCOS was mentioned. My cycles come between day 33 -50. Basically just whenever lol had regular cycles before DD. Xx

MK85 · 18/04/2023 22:56

@girlmumsince2021 in the months leading upto getting pregnant they were very regular , however that wasn't always the case. I had extremely irregular periods that came once or twice a year. I've also had several bouts of amenorrhea, the longest being two years. Now they have become quite erratic again . I bled for a few weeks after my loss in december and since that ive only had two periods . Flow has changed completely, they went from regular to scanty. This cycle mine only lasted three days , six would be normal for me.

I completed my first cycle but af literally just arrived :( next cycle I'll be on the 100mg. I've been reading clomid is not a good drug for pcos. I'm also concerned the risks outweigh the benefits so I don't know if I should continue. What's the point taking something that can prevent pregnancy. I think month 2 will be my last month if I chose to continue

graceinc22 · 26/04/2023 08:50

Hey, how was your monitoring scan? How’s it all going?

on my monitoring scan there was 1 dominant follicle of 17mm. Lining slightly thinner than they’d want, but ok. That was on Friday. I think I ovulated either on Sunday or yesterday (had a temp rise this morning). Fingers crossed.

they’ve told me that if the monitoring goes well this cycle then I don’t have to be monitored next cycle. A relief as it’s so disruptive to my work to keep having to go in! Had to cancel a good opportunity because I wasn’t available last Friday morning 😢

MK85 · 26/04/2023 19:50

@graceinc22 honestly , awful!
They brought me in too early. They scanned me on day 9. There was also no doctor available to perform the scan and we waited hours ! He said it's too early we won't see anything but he'll scan me anyway seeing I've made the journey. I'm honestly left feeling really frustrated. No idea now if I'm responding to the 50mg ..or hyper stimulating . Doctor didn't know what I should do because he's not my consultant and my consultant is refusing to see me. Have already contacted his secretary.
The nurse made a comment regarding my womb being thin also. I've had 2 scans prior , in October and February and doctors didn't mention any issue with the lining so I'm wondering if it's due to clomid as apparently one of the negative aspects of clomid is that it can thin your lining

Oh no, how frustrating! I’m so sorry. Are you being re scanned at the right time? X

MK85 · 27/04/2023 11:54

@graceinc22 no , they won't scan me again . I'm so angered

Hi! I’m currently on my first cycle of clomid which was prescribed to me in January but I delayed taking it up until now because I had a couple of natural cycles and wanted to see where they went first.
I’m currently CD17 and waiting and waiting for ovulation but nothing yet. Anyone ovulate later than this? I don’t know when to ‘call’ this cycle and move on?
I should also say I haven’t been for a scan as I went privately and just couldn’t afford it this time, which I know isn’t ideal, but I’m tracking bbt, cm and opks.
Sending good wishes to all x

MK85 · 01/06/2023 14:59

@AP77 I was also ovulating naturally in the few cycles just before starting clomid but it was ridiculously late cd30+ cd40+.
Last cycle we decided screw it , let's try the clomid.
On our first month of clomid I didn't ovulate until CD 19.
I'm currently on my second month now , still 50mg and I'm CD17 too but this month I've absolutely no symptoms of ovulation about to occur anytime soon
