Ovulation tests going from strong to weak

Hello,

Hoping someone can help me here.

I track ovulation using ovulation strips.
I started tracking from cycle day 10. Cycle day 12 was a pretty strong line but not enough for a peak - it just looked like I was getting there. Now I'm on cycle day 14 and it's back to being weak.

What is going on?!

In the past I've tended to ovulate from cycle day 15-17. I'm worrying I'm not actually ovulating :(

Any help would be really great.

Thank you

Hey!

How often are you testing a day?

It could be that you are just missing the LH surge as it's happening within nighttime so that's when the strongest Line would occur. So if it's fairly strong on CD12 in the morn/afternoon it could be positive come 12am If that makes sense.

Also If you have a rapid surge which occurs within 1 day rather than gradual, over 2-6 days the ovulation strips will turn negative/get lighter fairly quickly!

@onetubewonder i had this last mo th,
I had a positive but not peak on CD13 and thought I missed my peak because they started dropping until CD17 I got a really high one & my peak.
sometimes our bodies try to ovulate a few days before actually ovulating, I learnt that from a few ladies on another thread as I was asking advice on my CD14 last month and they where right. Keep testing, second morning urine is best if using easy @ home and then later in the evening.
(I’ve attached a picture of my last months cycle to show you what I mean)

hopefully you ovulate in the coming days and see your LH surge.

I never managed to get a "peak" reading with those kind of tests, but found the Clearblue ones with the flashing and static smiley face much easier to use

Katiex84x · 18/04/2023 10:56

I always get a quite high reading and then it drops off, then full ally get a peak a few days later.
Last month I had a high reading CD 15, dropped back down again and then got a peak on CD 19

vitahelp · 18/04/2023 11:58

There's a good chance you missed the peak. I use opks but can only do one a day due to work and have very rarely seen a positive one (been using them for several months). I know I ovulate as I've had blood tests confirm it, and also chart temperatures.
I tend to work off the tests getting darker then gradually lighter to figure out when I've ovulated.

onetubewonder · 18/04/2023 15:09

Thank you everyone, I feel more reassured now!

To ovulate around cycle day 12-14 would be unheard of for me so I'm going to continue testing and hope my peak is in a couple of days!

I test in the morning then also late afternoon/early evening xx

I’ve had the same experience. It’s so confusing. I can’t offer advice as still trying to work it out for myself.

I’ve always found H&M surprising reliable and good quality for denim jackets.

Sorry wrong thread 😂

@onetubewonder would you drink a lot of fluids during the day?

I've tried to give myself set times for my morning & evening test and try to limit fluid intake and make sure I hold my urine until I can't hold it no more and then test.
Also I test between 11-1 during the day then 7-8 in the evening.

If you're not already use the Premom app & log as much data you can for the last few months and upload your tests etc.

Do you know if you get any ovulation pain each month? That's how I would know if I wasn't testing.

onetubewonder · 20/04/2023 10:03

@Nmmck93

No not really - I'm quite bad for not drinking enough :(

My latest positive ovulation test has been around cycle day 18 which is two days away but the tests just seem to be getting fainter.

I haven't used the premom app for a few months - I tried to not get so stressy about ttc (as I already have a blocked tube) but it's impossible.

I don't tend to get ovulation pains - my boobs are really sore today though which is normally a sign that ovulation is on its way. My cervical mucus hasn't changed yet either to fertile. I just hope it's late ovulation, just would have expected my tests to at least try to get darker. I'll see if I can upload this mornings.

Thank you for your help xx

@onetubewonder aw, you could just surge within the one day so don't give up hope yet and keep testing.
I found this month and last month that I was high & peak within a few hours, and then a few hours after peak my test started to go faint so could just be a short phase.
I would keep doing what your doing testsing and hope they rise soon and you get your peak.
What brand of tests are you using?

onetubewonder · 20/04/2023 10:09

@Nmmck93

Thank you ♥️ normally I tend to peak and it stays strong for a couple of days.

Just the cheap easy @ home strip tests. Maybe I should use the more expensive ones really.

Thank you again

OP posts:
Nmmck93 · 20/04/2023 10:10

@onetubewonder oh really, that makes me worry about mine because once I peak it starts to drop a few hours or the next day.

I'm also using easy @ home - I tried extra cheapies and they where awful. But I have no problem with the easy at home ones. X

onetubewonder · 20/04/2023 10:13

@Nmmck93

No I've definitely heard a lot of woman say that about theirs too so I wouldn't worry!

I like these too, I used horrid cheap ones last month which I didn't seem to peak on either but I put that down to the tests! This is why I'm panicking even more this month that it wasn't actually the tests, it's just me ☹️ xx

Hazelnuttella · 20/04/2023 10:22

I used easy at home last month and also didn’t get a peak. Had 2 days that were higher than the others (and corresponded with EWCM) but they weren’t officially high according to the Premom app.
