We are hoping to start TTC next month after our wedding. I’ve been tracking my ovulation on the tests but have never had a “positive” test although I do have a peak around day 14/15. My cycle is bang on 30/31 days every month. I keep reading I need to be testing 2-3 times per day to catch the peak but how do people do it with jobs? I’m a teacher and barely have time in the day to go for a wee let alone do a test 😂
also I’ve never had a positive test does this mean I’m not ovulating? My fiancé would have a baby last week if he had the option 😂 so we’re keen to get started on the best foot!

Thought I’d add on as I’m a teacher. So I know they say to do the tests twice a day and not first morning urine but life does get in the way. When I’m back in work next week, I’m making time to test on my lunch and then when I get home of a night.

I get it- teaching takes over but I mean this lightly as someone who has been there and got the tshirt. It’s just a job!! So what if a few books still need marking or a display isn’t up to date. You come first!! Otherwise when a baby does come along then we’ve got no chance in this job haha.

I wish I’d have starting trying earlier now so no time to lose. Also, if you’re not making time to relax then conceiving won’t happen. This is just my thoughts and I’m determined to spread the word to put yourself as a priority!! Good luck @MAY324

I kept missing my peaks until I did 2 a day but I still did morning and evening and began catching it that way 😊 so can do before and after work. Or even once the kiddies leave school and later at nightime

MAY324 · 13/04/2023 12:44

I definitely agree it’s just a job! I’ve come to learn that along the years 😂I think testing at lunchtime might be the way to go! I was worried that it would be too diluted? But it’s definitely worth a try! I spent the whole first month tracking doing FMU and then wondered why nothing flagged up 🙈 good luck on your TTC journey!

What cycle day is everyone up to? I’m on CD 8. Also have 30/31 day cycles.

NicSC93 · 13/04/2023 13:11

Hello 😊. I'm also a teacher but after a few cycles of testing I realised my peak was always on days 13-15 so those are the only day I test more than once. Any other day I'll test once when home from work. Hope that helps 😊

NicSC93 · 13/04/2023 13:14

@Dreamer88 I'm on CD1...so here we go again 😂

MAY324 · 13/04/2023 13:16

We start in a couple of months! First time trying. Do you all do BBT too?

OP posts:
Dreamer88 · 13/04/2023 13:20

No I haven’t done BBT yet. I know I might start getting obsessive. Is it worth it? Ahhhh hate CD1! It’s like an endless loop. That’s a good idea about starting to recognise when you ovulate so it’s less pressure around that week.

NicSC93 · 13/04/2023 13:25

@MAY324 I've never done BBT either, as it's taken me a while to get to grips with OPKs.

Dreamer88 · 13/04/2023 13:28

Thank god someone else has said about the getting to grips with the opks! It’s a mine field! It’s like another degree just to understand it all haha!

TunnocksTCake · 13/04/2023 13:32

@MAY324 I get best results after 5pm and tend to do them when I get home from work and then again before bed. I have a super quick peak so often miss it but can see it going up and then back down again so you can kind of work it out based on that! Best of luck and I would advise to expect it to take 6 months or more in your head then if it doesnt its a bonus but you wont be getting stressed 'because it hasnt happened yet'

@Dreamer88 Im CD 8 and have a 30/31 day cycle too! What CD do you O on? Im around CD 16/17 usually so got another week to wait

NicSC93 · 13/04/2023 13:33

@Dreamer88 yes!!! I found them so hard the first few times I used them 😂. Is this line darker? Have I missed the peak? Think I was guessing the first few months. (It did get easier after a few cycles though)

Dreamer88 · 13/04/2023 13:41

According to the Premom app I ovulate cd 19 but can be cd 17-19. @MAY324 .

I’m going to start doing it in the evenings instead then. I don’t really understand the FMU thing with pregnancy test etc because I get up in the night at least once for the loo and drink water through the night so it’s not exactly diluted.
