TTC 2023

Hi all,

I'm looking for a bit of advice on what to expect/the right way to go about things.

A bit of background - I had a TFMR in January of this year and have been on the pill since then. My periods returned last week and everything seems to be normal. At some point this year my partner and I are hoping to start TTC. As I am currently on the pill, when would be best to stop taking this in order to allow ovulation to occur naturally and regularly again? I know it is not as linear as coming off contraception, ovulating and conceiving. However, I am looking for any stories of similar situations.

Thanks in Advance x

For me it took around 1 full cycle to get back into a pattern, probably around 6 or so weeks after stopping the pill i had my first light period, and then we got pregnant on the first full cycle after that, It was the progesterone only pill but i'd been on it for like 15 + years before that, so it can come back quickly! But yes, different for everyone....

@Hope9 so sorry for your loss, we had a Tfmr in January this year too. This is my first cycle ttc since and I’m currently in the 2ww. But I’m having lots of AF symptoms so not holding too much hope. Sending you lots of love, it’s the most harrowing experience of my life and it breaks my heart so many others have faced it too! Xx

@suz2285 Congratulations on your pregnancy, that's great news! and thank you for your experience, it has given me a better insight. x

@Luciechappie I'm so sorry to hear you went through a loss this year too. Nothing really fully prepares you for what you have to go through. Fingers crossed if not this time, you get a BFP in the next few cycles. Sending lots of love and hope to you on your journey! xx

Thanks @Hope9 unfortunately my first ended in MC and we're back TTC again so we're in the same boat... Also I've no idea what my "normal" cycle is now as i've either been coming off the pill or coming off the back of a MC! It's so very complicated isn't it! Fingers crossed for everyone 😁esp to those of us navigating this after loss.

Thanks @Hope9 i think I have had a vvvv feint line on a first response today. Very early days so we will see! Not getting my hopes up and will test again in a few days as I’m only 9DPO xx

@suz2285 I am so so sorry to hear that, fingers crossed for you and your partner that your little rainbow is on its way. I'm in the same situation as you with regards to trying to understand my cycle as my period didn't return until 10 weeks post TFMR which completely threw me off and I thought 'oh no, there's something wrong' so it was a relief when it returned. Fingers crossed we can work out the routine of our cycles soon enough 💛

@Luciechapman oh I think I can see a faint line there!! Yes, best to leave it a couple more days to see if the line intensifies. Fingers Crossed! xx

Hello, hope its ok to jump on & post. Just atter some advice & apologies if it's too much info.

Im on CD 11 today, tried over the weekend to dtd but my partner struggled to 'finish' i think the pressure is in his head & he seems to just not be able to do what needs to be done after the fun...

I took a opk this morning & a v feint line, i have some mild pain on my left side (i usually get ovulation pain) does this mean we are out for this month or do we still have a chance if we try to dtd again in next few days?

Any tips to help my partner also appreciated... iv tried to play down about the FW etc but he isn't stupid so i think is applying too much pressure to himself.

We had 3 miscarriages last year so I guess we are feeling the pressure for a sibling for our nearly 7 yr old as originally wanted a 4 year age gap :(

@Ttc2023x def not out, CD 11 is early for ovulation anyway you'll likely have another few days if you are falling into the "normal" timings. I'm CD 11 today too and i reckon by OPK's i'm a few days away as well. I usually ovulate between CD 14 and 15.

Re the partner no idea, i know a lot of couples struggle with that! My last cycle my husband had just started a new job and was exhausted and it was a real struggle trying to DTD for a few days in a row... I had previously asked him if he wanted to know or not know when it was time, but like you say they're not stupid (mostly!) and they know, esp if they're clued into the CM goings on as well.... god it's a lovely time all round isn't it!
