Cycle 10, ttc (no joy)

Back again almost a year on!

I'm starting to get slightly concerned now, my partner and I have been ttc since last july and we've had absolutely no joy unfortunately.

I was on rigevidon / microgynon for almost 10 years and now i'm worried its had a permanent effect on my fertility. My period seems to have a long cycle naturally which my doctor isn't too worried about but it makes ovulation tracking a nightmate so i've stopped doing this because it seemed that every month i wasn't getting strong enough results in the strips. I'm starting to feel a bit hopeless now with it all.

Has anyone had experience with taking a while to get pregnant after stopping the pill? I'm hoping nothings wrong but if there is it's hopefully something that we can get sorted, all i want is to be a mum ☹️

I'm sorry to hear about your struggles, it's so hard. I didn't ovulate or have a period for 11 months after coming off the pill which I'd been on for 16 years. My gp referred me to a fertility clinic after 6 months of no periods but the appointment was still a couple of months away when I finally had a period then ovulated in month 11. We were super lucky that I got pregnant in that cycle with my daughter, who is now 2.

My gp suspected pcos and I'm still not sure whether that 11 months was indeed pcos or pill related. Post partum and post breastfeeding normal cycles came back pretty quickly.

I was on the same pill as you, probably took it for about 8ish years. I came off the pill 2 years before ttc and always thought I had regular cycles from
the start but when I look back they varied by about 5ish days every month until I’d been off it for a year. I think it does take a little while to regulate unfortunately, I didn’t worry really as I wasn’t ttc then! Do you ever get a rise on the LH strips? I’ve never had a proper peak just a few darker ones mid cycle, but ive concieved twice!

I never had any issues with my cycles until I went on the pill for a year. Came off it and never had a regular period since and developed nothing but issues down below. I've always blamed the pill for messing my body. I was so regular like clockwork before it . It's been 17 + plus years trying to get pregnant now

Thank you, it really is so hard when it's all you want! I'm starting to wonder if i've got pcos, although i get periods regular enough the cycles are almost 40 days some months, but my doctor said to come back once it's been two years of ttc - it's just a horrible waiting game!

I had one dark strip and that was about it so i'm starting to wonder if i even ovulate although i get a regular period, its so hard to tell! Just tryin to keep positive

I think your doctor is wrong OP. I recommend getting a second opinion.
Have you tried temping and ovulation tests? That's what helped me work out I wasn't ovulating on my long cycles.

I went on the pill for heavy periods and my cycle came back quite quick but it's longer than i remember them being, but i'm not sure if thats because i was on the pill so long i can't remember what my cycle length was! Keeping everything cross our time comes!

For what it's worth, don't "keep positive", get some evidence! Get both of you checked out. Keeping positive isn't going to help.
On the Fertility Friend app forums there are a lot of knowledgable people. And there's a lot of good infertility podcasts too.

My Dr recommended to go back in another years time, which i wasn't overly happy with. I've not got much options for second opinions where i live unfortunately! I did ovulatoon tests but the results are so vague its not worth me doing - i just get wound up over them.

I was also on that pill and on a pill for 18 years solid. My periods regulated straight away but I didn't start ovulating until my 9th cycle after stopping the pill.

It's not as straight forward as that unfortunatley, we have limited available resources where I live. My partners fertility is fine he already has two children so if theres a problem its with me i'm afraid!

You can usually get an appointment with a doctor online too, if you live really rurally.

It's lack of GPs in our area and they're stopping econsult unfortunately!
