Hi I wonder if someone could hopefully shine a little Hope our way. I’ve had my AFC scan today and I’ve got 5. My AMH is 3.70 and I’m 34. We have booked a private consultation as nhs won’t unfortunately help. I was just wondering if anyone had any advice or success with these kinds of numbers?
Thanks ahead for any advice x

Hello!

I know you posted this a few months ago… but how have you been getting on? I’m in the same boat. Its worrying. X

Hi, I started my journey 38, AFC 3, AMH 1.8 and I am.pleased to say that at 41 I am 37 weeks pregnant.

Reason for the 2 year gap is initial year with NHS, the worst experience of my life, then 2 year did back to back freeze all cycles before we started transferring.

Wishing you both all the best in your journeys and I hope you are both doing well. X

Oh this is so reassuring to hear. I’ve been so worried, congratulations! You must be so excited! Did you get 5 eggs? X

@SPR40 congratulations! I am not too far off 38 and due to start natural modified IVF in August. Could I please how many egg collections did you do/how many embryos did you get? Did you do mild, natural or conventional IVF

Hi @ellierose66 and @Sunflower360

I had a number of other factors to consider not just AFC, I also had high FSH (off the scale high) and premature ovulation.

But I had 10 cycles in total, my 1st cycle I had 4 folices on initial scan but after a few days stim only 1 folcile developed and cancellation was discussed. We chose to continue and they collected 2 eggs of which 1 fertilised and made it to blast and went in the freezer...this embryo is my 37 week pregnancy ❤️

My 2nd cycle was straight after the 1st, I had lots of folicles on initial scan approx 10, but had 1 dominant folicle that was huge in comparison to the other 6 small ones. So to not lose the dominant folicle we triggered, collected 3 eggs, 2 fertilised, 1 made it to blast and in the freezer.

We then had an enforced break due to Christmas. When we started again in January nothing happened and I mean nothing. We had 7 cycles abandon because either FSH was too high to start or although folciles were there they weren't growing, or oestrogen was dropping so they were likely to be empty, so these were abandoned mid cycle.

We took a break to let my body settle, ths ended up being 3 months as my period dissappeared (probably stress related) when we came back we changed from mild protocol to a more aggressive protocol.

For the 3rd cycle we had 2 folciles on initial scan and it stayed 2 all the way through and both produced an egg and both made it to day 5 blasts in the freezer.

Our goal was 4 in the freezer before starting transfers.

This is just my story and the one thing I would say about IVF everyone's journey is unique, I am yet to meet someone with the exact same challenges. It also depends on your protocol and your response. I know this isn't helpful but if you look at my outcomes, every month was different even though nothing had changed. Before IVF i didnt know that folicle count changes month to month, hormone levels fluctuate (FSH) and your response to the meds changes. So my advice is ask all the questions to make sure you udnerstand what is happening with your treatment and why.

To add another good news story, there are lots of people on the forum with their own stories most recently someone who had an AFC of 4, she got 4 eggs collected and 3 embryos from that single cycle 😊

Sunflower360 · 31/07/2023 20:57

Thanks for sharing @SPR40 ! As you say everyone is different but it is good to hear positive stories such as yours. If you don't mind me asking what clinic did you go with?

ellierose66 · 31/07/2023 21:01

oh what an amazing story. And how hard it must have been for so many cycles for you.

but a wonderful reassuring story.

I didn’t know about follicle count! There was only 2 on my last scan which really concerned me. So could this just be where I am in my cycle?!

SPR40 · 31/07/2023 21:01

@Sunflower360 We went with CRGH, they had good results for the age group and we had a good initial consultation that was factual and broke each step down which worked for me, as there are already so many emotions at play in the IVF journey. It helped me to think of it as a process with lots of stages. I know that doesn't work for everyone though. 😊

SPR40 · 31/07/2023 21:03

@ellierose66 hiya again just to say I am not the original poster. But wanted to add in my journey in case it was helpful to anyone else and OP as noticed noone had responded to the initial post xxx

augustbabypending · 31/07/2023 21:34

Hey I was told age 29 that I was heading for premature menopause with an AFC of 1 sometimes 2, AMH 0.589pmol and FSH of a 45-50 year old. Tried IVF but no response, as expected. Started taking NMN supplements, improved my gut health on the autoimmune protocol diet, did lots of yoga, quit my job that I hated. We also had sex every other day all through the month.

Found out at age 31 I was pregnant on Xmas eve! Now 37 weeks pregnant. I felt like if I was doing IVF then I was wasting time but it's not the be all and end all. Xx
