Timing for DTD

hi everyone!
last month I sadly had a chemical pregnant. I was "pregnant" for 5 days, then AF came. It is just finishing now (obviously later than it would if i hadn't had a chemical) which my app tells me is throwing my ovulation later.

Problem is: we are desparate to conceive, but my OH is working abroad and we see each other for very limited time for the next 6 months.
I wanted to ask your thoughts:

  1. is there any way I can bring ovulation closer?
  2. AT the moment, if the app is correct (ish) then we would only be able to DTD at about midnight on the Monday before I ovulate on the Friday. Is this unlikely to work? I think this may be what happened last time and why it didnt work out / was a chemical? because the sperm was dying off? is this possible?
  3. 3. The only other option is that my OH and I try to fly to see each other somehow on the day of ovulation (if it is in fact the day!) but wouldnt be able to be in the same place until the evening of Friday. Do you think this would be too late (eg if i ovulated that morning?)

i appreciate this is a bit of a finger in the air question! I dont want to spend loads of money trying to get us together but i really need to conceive asap - also because otherwise i wont get maternity as i paln to hand my notice in in the next 5 months (unless on maternity- lots of things moving atm!)

appreciate anyone helping on this!!!

Will this be a common occurrence of not seeing each other for long stretches of time? It might be best to wait for when you’ve both settled down together. Is he happy to have a baby that he doesn’t see often?

With regards to ovulation, I conceived 3-4 days before I ovulated. I only knew because I tracked my bbt and knew when I ovulated based on the big temp shift (and that was the last time we had had sex). The only way to predict ovulation before it has passed is by using ovulation tests. They’re like pregnancy tests that you pee on. Don’t rely on phone apps because they are inaccurate.

thank you. This is a temporary readjustment so it should be good when it is over however i am on the much older side of things plus would like to get the maternity leave at my current place so would really like to conceive asap. my oh needs to be away to work and really needs this job.

do you think that i had a chemical last month because the sperm was " 3 days old" when i conceived? I was worried thats what happened last time! i really hope it comes a bit earlier... my af seems to be lasting longer than normal so its all a bit thrown out perhaps because of the chemical
good to hear it worked for you though! fingers crossed for me!

Sorry about your chemical.. we conceived on the day of ovulation last time and this time it was 2.5 days before ovulation. I don’t think the cause of your chemical is due to sperm dying out or anything though. They are extremely common sadly and I think there are just so many tiny things that all need to fall into place in the early days and unfortunately it doesn’t always all manage to happen so there are a million reasons a chemical can happen. If you can dtd in the 5 days leading up to ovulation, even once it should be in with a chance. I took maca root this time and it supposedly brings ovulation forward, I think it did work by a day or so

Chemicals are really common. Most women don’t realise they had one. They just think they had a slightly late period. Sperm can live inside a woman for up to 4-5 days, hence why I fell pregnant. It’s just a matter of a healthy sperm meeting a healthy egg.
