Short luteal phase

Hi,
Has anyone else managed to successfully lengthen their luteal phase naturally? We're currently TTC our second child after having a miscarriage last year. We've only been trying for five months and our first took 16 months in total.
My cycle is currently 24 days, with ovulation on day 17 giving me a 7 day luteal phase which I understand is classed as short. I went to the docs before we started trying and she said it shouldn't affect anything but I'm not convinced. I'm taking every vitamin that I know can help (Proceive, vitamin b, vitamin c, agnus castus) but wondered if anyone had lengthened their luteal phase taking anything else? I think I'm basically looking for the miracle cure! 😂

Hello! Sorry i don’t have any help for you but i also have a short luteal phase and a 22-23 day cycle.

has agnus castus helped you at all? Ive read good things bit also a few bad things so have been putting off trying it.

JourneyToNumber2 · 29/03/2023 20:37

@louH93 I can't say that I've seen any difference taking agnus castus, but I know I'd heard bad things as well. I did read that it can be good for those with short luteal phases so tempted to up the dose and only take after ovulation. I honestly feel like I've tried everything and nothing has changed my cycle!

Ah ok, i might give it a go!

me too… i think i’ve actually somehow managed to make it worse with all these vitamins as it used to be 25 days! Seems like its a loosing battle some days.

JourneyToNumber2 · 30/03/2023 07:19

Same here! The amount of time I spend searching for other vitamins to take is crazy! I've just ordered soy isoflavones as I've seen a lot of people on here say it helped bring ovulation forward. No idea if it will actually work but might as well try something else. 😂

I had the same cycle length and ovulation phase as you and was also worried about conciveing. I heavily researched the use of vitamin b6 and started taking that daily. I can't remember exact dose, maybe 50mg, but i did a lot of research in to it first. It worked for me and pretty quickly and I now have 2 healthy DC. Good luck!

JourneyToNumber2 · 30/03/2023 10:30

@Givemestrengthorvodka ah that's wonderful! Thank you for the advice, I've just started taking b6 so will see if it helps anything.

Hey! Have you managed to lengthen your cycle at all?

JourneyToNumber2 · 15/05/2023 20:58

Hi @LouH93 no, still having a 25 days cycle however I did ovulate on CD14 this month rather than CD17 so maybe the Soy Isoflavones worked. I'm currently on CD19 so resisting the urge to test early and just wait for AF to arrive. Easier said than done as we all know!
How are you getting on?

Oh thats promising!!! I was reading about soy isoflavones today so I might give those a go. My cycles still the same, 22-24 days with ovulation CD15.
Thank you for the update. Always interesting to see how people are getting on!

JourneyToNumber2 · 16/05/2023 05:48

@LouH93 yes, I'm just hoping it doesn't mean AF will come earlier too!

I managed to conceive on a 24 day cycle without any artificial attempts to lengthen it. My cycle went from 29 days to 24 after my first child and may have been partly because I was breastfeeding.
I found I was actually ovulating much earlier than the OPK kits suggested. I got pregnant using SMEP, but had to start the intense BD section the day after my period finished (day 6 or 7) and had ovulated by day 9. Try just starting everything earlier.

YukoandHiro · 16/05/2023 06:07

PS the opk kits were wrong for me. I get ovulation pain so I could pinpoint when it has happened but the opks would tell me it was later.

Hi, I've just done a search foe short luteal phase and came across this thread! I have a very similar cycle and trying all sorts to help...

Did you find anything that either brought forward ovulation/increased luteal? @JourneyToNumber2

Hope you don't mind me re-opening the post! X

ForestWren · 14/11/2023 09:53

Hi @WaitingForLittleSunflower just hopping on here as I’ve been looking into this too and feel your pain. Must admit I’m very early in my journey and have only tracked a few cycles but it looks like I ovulate around day 17. Cycles are usually between 24 and 28. So when they’re 24 it only leaves 7 days. Gives something else to stress about when waiting for AF! Willing it to be longer! How are you getting on?
