Vitex and weight gain

Has anyone here used vitex for either fertility or hormonal-regulation issues? (I posted in conception cause that's how/why I'm using it).

I started it a couple of weeks ago, and in those couple of weeks I have put about five or so pounds on, and it's quite noticeable. It seems to be concentrated on my belly, but it's probably fairly evenly distributed realistically. My boobs are massive atm too (especially my left one). I'm currently 7dpo, and am really hoping that this month I will conceive.

Has anyone taken vitex and noticed weight gain? And while I'm here, does anyone have any success stories from having taken it?

No but weight gain is a side effect, i dont know weather or not its directly related to the herb or not or because its has the potential to alternate your hormones it can increase appetite.
I personally wouldn't recommend messing with vitex. It's a very potent herb. For the few positive stores online there are many negative. It can completely screw up your hormones. I was the perfect candidate for vitex with my hormone levels caused by pcos and it completely screwed up my cycles. It stopped my cycles and it took me 1.5 years to get them back and they were still extremely irregular for several years after. Had regular cycles my whole life up until vitex. Its taken me several years now and medications just to get my cycles back regular. I stupidly was taking a supplements that contained vitex last year that i didnt realise and it fucked my periods up again. I went 5 months without a period. I've seen many women complaining or missing periods and late ovulation from taking vitex. My blood test after that showed progesterone was low , prolactin high and estrogen was raised so clearly vitex did not help.
Vitex is recommended for women with high prolactin since it can have a balancing effect on prolactin which high prolactin can cause irregular cycles. It can also help increase progesterone.. but it also increases estrogen. There was no levelling effect on my hormones, none of them worked in harmony anymore and as I said it actually messed them all up.
Certainly did not help me get pregnant . It's also advised you can't take this herb long term. No longer than 6 months before you need to stop for a break.
Have you been diagnosed with a hormonal disorder?

Hi @MK85 sorry I'm only writing back to you now! Thank you for your reply btw!

That's crazy that it messed up your cycle so badly, I'm so sorry to hear that! How long had you taken it for? Do you mind if I ask why you took vitex if your periods were regular? Did it make your periods crazy long or really short or a mixture of both?

This is my first cycle taking it, and so far the only negative symptom I'm having from it is weight gain, it's been helping with everything else. I have stage 4 endometriosis, so I'm taking it to help with the pain associated with the endo, as well as to help PMS (I get the sads real bad the week before my period, and also the rage 😂). So far, although my breasts hurt quite a bit, it's not more than usual. My period should begin in four days (unless I'm pregnant!) and if my period is on its way, I have had virtually no PMS, and I haven't cried or been really down yet. Shortly after I started taking it though I got some spots on my chin, but they've cleared up. I ovulated (I assume, I had a strong peak in LH) at the time I usually would, so so far this cycle is on time like my previous ones.

You mention that it didn't help you get pregnant, do you mind if I ask if you became pregnant after stopping it? If you did, did you take anything else, or do IUI/IVF or something?

Thanks so much again for your reply, it's really good to hear about other women's experiences with this herb!!
