Hi everyone,

I would love some advice and support here - and if necessary, preparation.
We have been TTC for a while.
We dtd on 4 March and i think i ovulated later around 7 (first day peak OPK digital) or 9 March. I then got a v v v faint squinter clear blue line on sunday 19th, and then monday 20th i had a strong FRER line. Yesterday: clear blue digital said 1-2 weeks.
This morning, with FMU clear blue digital said "not pregnant"
then when I went to the toilet, there was very VERY faint pink string in my CM (apologies if TMI!)
i tested with the same fmu with a FRER (im panicking) and it was positive, but the line was fainter. a Boots "early test" had such a faint line I could hardly see it.

Do you think it looks like this isnt viable? i have mild cramps. maybe i should have stopped coffee or not exercised - i thought it was all ok (1 coffee per day).
thanks in advance.

@stopeatingchocolate, unfortunately I don't think there's any real way to know until you start bleeding properly. The same thing happened to me a couple of weeks ago and I'm no longer pregnant, I was spotting from when I had a positive test, had a negative test around 13 DPO and then started properly bleeding 4 or 5 days later (around the time my period was due). I spent hours and hours on Mumsnet and Google trying to find the answer and do regret doing that now but at the time I was just so desperate for someone to tell me that what I was experiencing was 'normal'. There are also many stories out there that confirm people have bleeding in early pregnancy and all turns out to be well but I don't think anyone can really confirm and only time can tell.

If you do end up miscarrying one thing I can definitely say is that you couldn't have prevented this and having one coffee a day and exercising won't have changed the outcome so please, please try and not blame yourself. If it's any kind of solace I did start to feel a bit better and rational after about a week after it happened and I'm now about to ovulate again, but I know that everyone is different so there's no right or wrong way to feel. Be kind to yourself and give yourself time to grieve.

Wishing you all the best and hope you're okay xxx

stopeatingchocolate · 23/03/2023 10:37

you are so kind - thank you. I hope it stays i so so hope it does. but perhaps if im realistic it wont happen :(

just checked and no more blood. but then at my stage, would you expect all the lines to be darker? and with FMu to be pregnant on a clear blue digital? god this is the worst.

@stopeatingchocolate, it's really difficult to say - from what I've seen on here there can be all sorts of things that affect line progression, for example, did you get up in the night for the toilet? Did you drink a lot before bed? They can all affect it. Can you post photos of your tests?

It might be worth trying to contact your Early Pregnancy Unit, I did that and they just advised me to wait a week and see if the bleeding stopped but I've read stories on here of people going in for bloods to check HCG is rising so might be worth a ring?

I'll keep everything crossed for you xxx

Lippygoat · 23/03/2023 11:23

Hi lovely. I'm experiencing something like you today too. I am currently ( or was ) 5 weeks pregnant. But woke this morning to some blood when I wiped and again when I went to toliet again, except this was dark thick blood but nothing that's transferred. I've since been to the toliet again and no blood at all. So I am unsure whether I'm about to miscarry again or if I'm in the process of it or even whether to still look for hope as bleeding during early pregnancy is a thing.
Just in so much limbo. I'm absolutely praying for you. I fell pregnant last month too and 3 tests said pregnant. I then miscarried shortly after and the following day I took a test and it said negative. I will test again Saturday I think and just see where I'm at.

Fingers crossed. X

stopeatingchocolate · 23/03/2023 11:25

Thank you everyone

@PennyPenny1 do you think the EPu would see me if my pregnancy test seem to be going the wrong way / my levels are dropping?
@Lippygoat : im SO sorry youre in the state of the unknown also. Im here for you too! i really hope this is good news for you. When did you last test? fingers crossed

I tested Sunday and I was positive and tested again Monday because I was so overjoyed and needed to see it say pregnant again. Only today has the bleeding started but I feel like it's not good news 😔 I had abit of hope but the days gone on now and I think I'm having a miscarriage. Il test at the weekend to confirm hopefully it'll say negative because I can't bare the not knowing or not and being so early I won't get seen and If I go private they can only really see anything from 6 weeks.
I hope you're ok cx

stopeatingchocolate · 23/03/2023 15:41

I'm sorry to hear that @Lippygoat
How heavy is the bleed? I heard it can be quite normal to bleed in pregnancy (1 in 4 I read!?)

OP posts:
stopeatingchocolate · 23/03/2023 15:41

Also @Lippygoat are you testing positive still?

Up date... no bleeding by frer even fainter today. So pretty much waiting for aF now

Sorry you are going through this 💐

stopeatingchocolate · 24/03/2023 12:15

Thank you. The line is so faint this morning on frer. Does anyone know how long until af would roughly arrive after a small faint line?
Next month is my last month for 8 months to try as my oh is in the forces
And he leave mid April so I'm hoping I ovulate before then
So disappointed it hurts! At least once I know for certain (although I really do !) I can have a giant glass of wine !

@stopeatingchocolate so sorry to hear this and hope your evening last night was bearable. If you don't start bleeding it might be worth trying your EPU or GP to see if they'll do bloods? I know it feels like absolute torture waiting around.

My lines definitely got fainter as the week went on and I think I bled at 15 DPO which was 2 days after getting 'not pregnant' on the Clearblue I took. I did only bleed for 3 days and it was just like a heavy period for the first 24 hours and then not much blood at all really. Now I'm on CD14 and have had a positive OPK today & lots of EWCM this week so hopefully your cycle will go back to normal immediately.

Hope you're okay - look after yourself this weekend and definitely have that glass of wine (or two) if you start bleeding!

stopeatingchocolate · 24/03/2023 13:33

Thank you @PennyPenny1 this is so reassuring
Just wanted to ask how long do you think I should wait before calling the EPU? I tested positive on Monday and while still "positive" have v v light streaks of blood and gone to not pregnant on cb dig yesterday and lighter frer today ... do I need to wait for full on bleeding?

OP posts:
boymama82 · 24/03/2023 14:26

It's really really impossible to tell luvvy, I had 3 miscarriages in quick succession and now have 2 beautiful healthy boys so there is hope. I bled in my successful pregnancy too so like I say it's really hard to tell.

Please please do me a favour and do not blame yourself. Honestly I did it and it was a pointless and hurtful exercise, it's not your fault if you do miscarry but you're not right now so 🤞🤞🤞

stopeatingchocolate · 24/03/2023 17:31

Thank you.
do you think I assume that this is a miscarriage? Because the line is definitely not progressing and is less visible and I noticed a tiny bit of blood but not much. Like a few dots
but.. it was not pregnant yesterday and 1-2 weeks on monday
im so confused
i don’t even drink much and just want a glass of wine!m and a cry!!!

Sorry to hear this. Might be worth calling EPU for advice.

I don't think anyone will be able to tell just now but just wanted to say that exercising and coffee won't have made any difference.

Sending you massive positive vibes x

WimbyAce · 24/03/2023 18:45

Sorry to read this. I had this happen to me twice and I bled quite quickly once the lines started to fade. I don't think EPU would be able to do anything to help at this stage I'm afraid.

WhatAmIDoingWrong123 · 24/03/2023 19:05

Exercising and coffee won’t have made a difference so please don’t put that on yourself. I’ve experienced pregnancy loss so I know how hard it is, but try to leave off the tests and let your body tell you what’s happening over the next couple of days. I don’t think focussing so much on lines helps.

TTC took us almost 2 years, including the early loss and it was very draining. Remember that you are fabulous.

stopeatingchocolate · 24/03/2023 19:27

ok thanks everyone. Does the line have to be totally gone before AF? i want to know either way as i think in my heart i must know that its on the way out! but also, without AF, and with a faint line, thers a totally irrational hope! x
