Have I missed ovulation?

Giles1008 · 20/03/2023 17:35

I usually ovulated on CD15 - thought I might be ovulating a little later but just done a test and it’s literally at 0 now.

Could I have missed ovulation between CD14 and the morning of CD15?

We BD on CD13 & CD15 and I have had ewcm

I think it would be unlikely... My high to peak usually happens very rapidly but then I have fairly high readings for the next couple of days before they go down again. Every one is different, of course! But I'd personally keep on testing. If you did miss it, at least you dtd and have it covered! 😊

Yes that’s what I thought, maybe I’m going to ovulate next week instead. Recently my periods have been 29-30 days but when I conceived our son looking back on my app it was CD20.

I was excited to ovulate today and start my TWW now I feel a bit in limbo.

thanks for your reply @HannahLouD

Although looking back at yours, within 24 hours you’ve gone from low - peak - low so maybe I did miss it? @HannahLouD

Tested evening 14th and then evening of 15th? My tests never actually get super high ‘only’ around 1.1 - guess I’ll never know 🫠

@Giles1008 good point! They literally went from 0.66 back to 0.66 within 24hrs 🤔 the highest peak I've had before this one was 1.15 so this was my strongest!
Id keep testing though to make sure! At least you've covered it with dtd if you did ovulate in between. Do you track BBT at all?x

Giles1008 · 20/03/2023 21:19

I don’t track BBT we have little boy who is 2 years old and although he sleeps through, he often comes into bed with us around 5am. So I’m not sure how accurate it would be.

I might give it until May being an then give it a go? Do you track BBT? @HannahLouD

Twoinapod · 21/03/2023 08:39

I’d say probably yes. When mine started to rise a tested a couple of times to see the rise and then seen it go down. If you’d tested CD 15 in AM you may well have seen a rise

Twoinapod · 21/03/2023 08:39

Keep testing though just in case

HannahLouD · 21/03/2023 09:37

@Giles1008 how's it looking this morning?

On reflection I do agree with @Twoinapod you may well could have missed it if your rise and fall is quick...

I do chart BBT. I charted orally last month but vaginally this month. It's really helpful as when you have at least 3 days of higher temperatures that match up with when you think you have ovulated, you can pretty much safely say you have.
My rise is more subtle this time (only 3po myself atm though) but I think that may be due to temping vaginally... I'd defo recommend giving it a go if you can! Maybe set an alarm a little bit before your lo is due to come in to your room? Luckily my daughter doesn't come up until 7am, but I tend to wake up around 5/5.30 anyway.

Giles1008 · 21/03/2023 12:58

It’s literally non existent this morning read as 0.4 on the Premom app. I think I’ve had an LH surge CD15 morning - annoying I read not to test first thing in the morning which is why I waited until later.

We DTD the night before so we should be covered I hope. I might BBT next month I used to do before my little boy using the Natural Cycles app and found it really accurate. I wore a fit bit last time I was pregnant too and you know when you’re pregnant because your heart rate doesn’t drop back down like it would before AF but don’t wear one anymore.

Have you been TTC long? @HannahLouD

Giles1008 · 21/03/2023 12:59

@Twoinapod tested this morning and literally nothing so I’m pretty sure I ovulated yesterday!! On to the TWW

HannahLouD · 21/03/2023 13:10

@Giles1008 I find that my highest readings have been between about 10am-2pm. I generally tend to test at least twice a day when I think I may be close to ovulating. Seems like you're right and you may have missed your surge... at least you covered it with bd'ing!!
Yeah I'd defo recommend bbt charting if you can... I've found it really informative.
No, I haven't been ttc for long - this is my third cycle. I came off the pill late December and started trying straight away - no luck the first month but I fell last month (so second cycle) which ended in a cp... Knew it was too good to be true for it to happen so quickly. But seeing as it did, I'm cautiously hopeful it won't take long again 🤞 I'm 28 so I'm hoping and praying I've got some good eggs in there still! 🤞 Had my dd at 23 by accident 😅🙈 But that was with a "friend with benefits" at the time, not my current partner.
Have you been trying for long?

Matildahoney · 21/03/2023 13:29

This was mine this month, although weirdly IRL cd17 was actually darker than cd15! My temps stayed the same pretty much, not even a slight rise, so I've no idea what's going on this month! We still SMEP'd just in case.

It looks to me like cd17 was much more positive than cd15? Although tbh none of them look properly positive? Did you have any as dark or darker than the control line? I would test a few times a day when you're expecting to ovulate just so that you don't miss your peak!
If you haven't had a temperature rise at all, perhaps you've had an anovulatory cycle... I hope that's not the case! But I read they are more common than you may think!

Matildahoney · 21/03/2023 13:38

@HannahLouD no I didn't get a proper peak, I'm 40 so there's every chance of that being the case, this was only my second cycle of temping, previously I've only used the strip tests, it's all bloody baffling!!
I struggle to test more than once a day, I leave the house at 7.45, not home until 5.15, we have to use a public toilet at work so can't do it there. Frustrating!!

HannahLouD · 21/03/2023 13:58

@Matildahoney ahh that is really frustrating! :( You never know, you could have ovulated! Fingers crossed for you 🤞 :)

Giles1008 · 21/03/2023 14:48

@HannahLouD This is our first proper month trying, we are on a bit of a time schedule. We basically have three months giving us a DD Dec, Jan, Feb then need to stop as my brother is getting married in America and I want to be able to go! So if we’re not successful we will wait until Christmas time.

I really want a baby but I know that actually financially it probably would be better to wait until Christmas. We conceived our LO in our first month so 🤞🏻 he will be 3 in January so a nice gap!

@Matildahoney mine look as dark as yours on CD17 but we’re reading really low on the app. The light in my bedroom is terrible though so think that’s the problem. I can’t really do it at work either and the peak can be so quick.

OP posts:
Matildahoney · 21/03/2023 15:35

@Giles1008 I think the app is awful for uploading a decent pic, my bathroom is about the best place, too much light, it doesn't like it, too little light, doesn't like it, unnatural light, not happy! So frustrating, I go by eye, but then the app buggers up what it logs compared to what you've actually seen with the naked eye! That causes enough stress in itself!!
Good luck!!

pinkthree · 21/03/2023 15:36

On CD14 you tested at 9am, I think that was probably a bit early in the day and you would of got your peak that afternoon x

Giles1008 · 21/03/2023 17:15

Just got home and tested again, could I be trying to ovulate again?

If I’m honest I’ve got no experience with not ovulating on time so don’t know anything about the science behind it. But I’ve seen people post about the body trying and failing then trying again?

@Giles1008 I'd testing again this evening and see if it's gone up or down. Mine tend to do the same as @HannahLouD and be higher before the peak and then go back down again after peak.

Giles1008 · 22/03/2023 16:29

Carried on testing and it’s getting darker 🙌🏻 must be ovulating later than normal. Not sure it’s quite a peak but almost, going to test around 9pm as see.

Angelselevenx · 22/03/2023 16:31

@Giles1008 do you have any photos?

@Angelselevenx what do you think?

Angelselevenx · 22/03/2023 16:52

I'd say that's very very close if not peak! Test again in a few hours and see what it's like xx

HannahLouD · 22/03/2023 16:55

Amazing! I'd say you'll either get your peak later this evening, OR you could have missed your peak a bit earlier today and it's coming down again... I'd say if it doesn't get any darker, your peak would have been this afternoon, if it does, well, you've got your answer! 😊
