BBT charting vaginally
HannahLouD · Yesterday 08:16
Hi all 😊
I charted my BBT last month orally (pregnant but ended in chemical) and this month I decided to chart vaginally (I'd read it can be more accurate as I'm a bit of a mouth breather at night 😅)
My temps have been pretty stable and everything seems to be as should be. (I'd honestly ignore the one on Thursday as I woke up sooo many times in the early hours of the morning and it was really hot in the room so I think that threw it).
I got my peak ovulation test on Friday and had a slight dip in temperature yesterday (happened last month before ovulation) and then a slight rise today.
I know I'm probably only 1dpo and it can't be confirmed until you have at least 3 higher than coverline readings, however, I guess my main question is... Anyone who has charted vaginally, is there usually a drastic change in temperature after ovulation? I'm aware vaginal readings are much higher to begin with anyway! I did also take my temperature orally this morning and it was around where it was last month after ovulation (I know I can't use that as I haven't temped orally all cycle - was just curious!)
Also, probably stupid question, but, does dtd the night before and not going to the loo yet (if you get what I mean) affect your temperature at all? I'm guessing not, but new to this! 😅
Thank you so much to anyone who has any insight on vaginal temping!! 😊x

Not sure but do you use a normal bbt thermometer or a special one?

Hi!
It's just a normal BBT thermometer (one with two decimal places) it said you could use it orally or vaginally though :)

Any will work

@Emmamoo89 Do you know anything about temping vaginally?
LG93 · Yesterday 17:04
There were my graphs for both times I conceived if they help, yes the temperature did continue to rise but obviously like you said you wouldn't see that yet!
Good luck

@LG93 Thanks! I have a chart from last month when I was pregnant but ended in a chemical, with a clear temperature rise (very obvious) but I was temping orally. I just don't know if it's different temping vaginally? My temps were 36.72/36.73 every day for a whole week and then dropped to 36.6 (day after my peak opk) and then rose to 36.9 this morning... They're such tiny and minor shifts. But maybe that's normal when not temping orally? Perhaps I should have stuck to temping orally...

I guess I'm just wondering if you see less of a rise after ovulation as temperatures are a lot higher to start with temping this way anyway.. my pre-o temps before when temping orally were around 36.2/3 and rose to 36.5/7ish. Whereas this way they started at 36.7ish before o... so I'm not sure they would rise too much past 37?
I'm probably not making much sense and should just wait and see I guess 😅

I just know it worked when I tempted vaginally fell pregnant first month 😊

@Emmamoo89 Lucky you! That's great. I fell pregnant last month in our second month of trying but it didn't stick so this is our third month.
Do you know if your temperatures rose much after ovulation? Were they high to begin with anyway?

It rose a bit then I had a dip at 7dpo and shot up after that and stayed up. So sorry for your loss. If I can find my chart I'll show you it. X

Thanks for the response! 😊 That would be amazing to see if you have it and it's not too much trouble - thank you!
Ah thanks... These things happen I guess. Hopeful for a sticky one next time 🤞
Congrats on your pregnancy! How far along are you?
I have a DD who is 5 next month but I didn't know anything about opks or bbt or anything then 😅x

Those charts were vaginal so although it looks like a big jump the whole 'range' is only about.4 of a degree, I think it is more subtle but still should be pretty clear

@LG93 Thank you so much for sharing that with me... that's really helpful!
I actually had another small jump this morning from 36.90 yesterday to 36.99 this morning... So I'm hoping for another jump tomorrow to confirm 🤞
