Hi,

Currently been trying for 19 cycles. Last three were medicated with timed intercourse. First was lethrozole delayed ovulation 45 day cycle. Then two rounds with gonal f. One more to go before we start ivf.

Just looking for people to share the journey with as I've started feeling very alone.

Handhold :( I’m only 11 months in but I’ve had two miscarriages and two rounds of clomid already due to some diagnosed issues (PCOS, irregular ovulation and sperm issues).

interested in what you said about your cycle being delayed - I think my current round of clomid has somehow delayed my cycle (I had finally got a good 30 day rhythm going but clomid seems to have screwed with it)

im sorry - it’s the most painful thing I’ve ever experienced :( solidarity x

SquashPenguin · 14/03/2023 17:27

It’s horrible, I do feel your pain. I’m 5 years and 2 months in. I wish I could say it got easier 😢 x

Jen05p · 14/03/2023 17:32

Hi all, I am ttc 2nd baby for 18 months nearly. 1st pregnancy about 15-16 months. I am on 2nd medicated cycle with letrozole and ovitrelle trigger injection. Few more days until test day but already for af symptoms so not got much hope. No known issues after all fertility tests came back fine and same with partner.

In my first cycle with letrozole ..it delayed my period by 5 days but I am also on cylogest to help with best possible chance of implantation support etc. So once I stopped taking it and blood test was negative for pregnancy, my period started next day.

roro87 · 14/03/2023 17:43

It's the group no one wants to be part of.

I forgot to say above that we are trying for our 2nd baby too. First took 20m and we had just been referred for investigation when i got pregnant unexpectedly. I did nothing different that month so who knows.

I have pcos and thyroid issues. However my pcos isn't severe as in I've regular periods and ovulate each month just on day 19/20. I've contacted a clinic in Prague re ivf and have our first consultation on the 27th I'll be interested in what they have to say.

currently 1dpo after trigger on Saturday

Hi @roro87 I know it can be so draining especially when it goes over the year mark and you start thinking it's never going to happen. I guess in your case it did happen at 20 months and my case about 15/16 months so we just never know.

Is the trigger you're taking same as ovitrelle? Also what dose are you on for letrozole? My first and second cycle were 5mg.

I am on another thread actually where someone just got their bfp today after 3 cycles on letrozole..so it made me feel like there was hope!!

roro87 · 14/03/2023 17:59

I only did one cycle on lethrozole it's was 5mg also but i was a poor responder. Now I'm on Gonal F injections which pretty much do the same thing. Yes exact same couldn't remember the name of it and when I checked it was ovitrelle.
I worry in general that I'm a poor responder that if we do ivf I won't get any/many eggs.

I guess that's the thing you never know I know someone personally who went 5/6 years without getting pregnant then had a little boy and boom pregnant with twin before he was 2 no intervention.

I do worry tho that my son was our lucky break and obviously wouldn't change that for the world.

OP posts:
Alexis7890 · 14/03/2023 18:12

Hi @roro87 ive done 4 tries with letrozole and didn’t respond, currently on third go with gonal f injections with ovitrelle trigger and cyclogest which I have responded to once but didn’t on the second go but if no pregnancy this cycle we will move to ivf.

have your clinic done follicle counts/monitoring/tested AMH to see egg levels? I was worried I would be a bad ivf responder given the rubbish response so far so I asked my consultant and he was instantly saying I would be a good candidate due to my pcos and how I tend to verge on over responding to this so they have to scale back the meds that leaves me with nothing and that my amh is high which is good but ivf is a totally different way to stimulate.

roro87 · 14/03/2023 18:24

Yes my amh was 46 or something like that. Follicle counts are high with them all small though. 20 or so on each side.

That's good to know maybe that's what my consultant is doing also. I'm not on cyclogest I must ask about it

OP posts:
Alexis7890 · 14/03/2023 19:02

Based off what my doctor said last week then ivf should be all good to respond for you! But hopefully you won’t need to do that!!

Itstheway · 14/03/2023 19:21

Hi all, it’s certainly not a spoke about enough club :(. We’ve done 6 rounds of letrazole and have ovulated but still no positive pregnancy. My consultant has upped the dose from 5mg to 7.5mg for 5 more months, after this is IVF but I’m just out of the BMI range of 30 for the referral which isn’t easy with PCOS. Can you ask for an increased dose of let?

Alexis7890 · 14/03/2023 19:56

@Itstheway i think they can do 2.5-10mg in 2.5 intervals but not all clinics will go to 10 some stop at 7.5 you have good chances though if you are ovulating? Sorry to hear about the bmi for ivf, it’s so hard isn’t it. I have pcos as well but my bmi is in the okay for referral range but keeping it there is hard! I think private clinics tend to accept bmi under 35 but obviously you have to pay? Or could you get there in the 5 months left on letrozole for if no success? They can usually do up to 6 rounds of injections (I’m on that after not responding to letrozole) but if you’re responding to letrozole they might stay on that?Wish you so much luck!!

roro87 · 14/03/2023 19:58

I've got an increased dose of gonal f this month. I was such a poor responder they just moved onto another method. I have a lot of respect for the consultant for making the change. Gonal F is working just this month was v delayed.

It is so hard to lose weight with pcos. I've to reduce mine also

OP posts:
Alexis7890 · 14/03/2023 20:05

@roro87 what dose are you on now? I tried letrozole 4 times and didn’t respond, responded to gonal f once then didn’t last cycle at all so higher dose this cycle

roro87 · 14/03/2023 20:13

@Alexis7890 I'm on 75 this cycle. I was on 62.5 the last two. Its quite low I think from what I've read

OP posts:
Alexis7890 · 14/03/2023 20:30

@roro87 im on 75 now too, last cycles I have gone between 50 and 75 apparently pcos and over responding risk they don’t take us too high which is annoying!

roro87 · 14/03/2023 20:44

@Alexis7890 Yes it is as I'm only getting one follicle each time. I don't want too many but two would be ideal

OP posts:
roro87 · 19/03/2023 21:26

I'm 6 dpo and this tww feels like the longest in eternity. I feel like my entire life is lived in two week intervals.

OP posts:
Jen05p · 20/03/2023 09:58

@roro87 hope this cycles goes well for you fingers crossed.

Unfortunately my 2nd round of letrozole +trigger + cyclogest has ended with a BFN today. I would be around 14PDPO so wont test again now as I believe thats me out. I spoke to my fertility DR and he was saying you would be suprised how many of their patients fall pregnant on their 3rd or 4th cycle so hey fingers crossed. I am responding to letrozole but its just not happening sadly. I think we will try another 1-2 cycles and then it may be to move on to IUI.

Hope everyone is okay.

Vallef · 27/04/2023 19:41

Hi ladies can I join?
I am actually on another thread as well for IVF cycle March 2023 so if anyone wants to jump on that as well they can. Am in my 2nd year of IVF with no luck following my womb cancer diagnosis in 2018. Its been heart braking to say the least knowing the medication am taking is the medication which could make me sick again but hey ho am on to round 4 since March, had my transfer last Thursday and its been such a difficult week psychologically. I was on gonal f as well in this round snd my 4th and I had my 1st successfully pregnancy which ended in miscariage at 6 weeks though. Anyone else taking cyclocur and utrogestan as well as lubion Injections?

@roro87 what happend with your consultation in Prague? Am having my treatment in Greece at the moment. My first 2 failed cycles wre in the UK and were the most horrible experience. My 3rd I came to Greece to a really gd recommended doctor and as I said I got pregnant so am doing my 4th cycle with him again.

roro87 · 27/04/2023 19:56

@Vallef my consultation in Prague was disappointing the protocol they wanted was way too low to stimulate my gets just 12.5 ui more gonal f than I was on and barely getting 1 egg day 20. My dad then had a stroke so we couldn't go there anyway as it was unfair to ask them to mind my child.

We have since had a consultation here in Ireland and consultant said we could go next week plan drawn up etc so I got excited then no one contacted me so I contacted Coordinator
She said we can't go ahead due to antiviral bloods not being done, we knew we needed them just not when. Annoying thing was we were both there last week so could have got them done. So now they say we can start and risk it or else we'd need to wait until July. Usually takes 7 days to come back but can be complications that delay.

No idea what to do. I've attached my medication list.

@roro87 if you were up for it I would really recommend if you want to see the clinic here in Athens. Like I said he is a top notch doctor who sees you at every scan he is at your side. They speak English as they have many ppl who travel from the UK and from all Europe. Tbh this is from my observations from being in clinic. Its so much cheaper than UK including the medications and all your scans and bloods are included you don't get any nasty surprises. Following my miscarriage in Novemeber last year he asked me to do some bloods to rule some things out and the GP woulndt even discuss it as they were 'too specialised' and privately I needed over 2k to pay. I popped to Greece Friday morning went done them with a 50 euro ticket came back Sunday and paid 370 euros for all the bloods that would cost 2k in the UK. Really not sure what antiviral tests they want have they given you a list?? I had gonal f 900 to prepare for my egg collection snd cetrotide with orgalutran for my trigger Injection and I think averkap as well. Following egg collection to prep for rhe transfer it's cyclacur, utrogestan and lubion. They sound to flippant for my liking the fact is ul be spending your money, and it's a huge strain on your psychology to have them not explain things properly and be proactive with you!! July is such a long time away why such a delay??

roro87 · 27/04/2023 21:28

@Vallef I'm in the west of Ireland so a 4 hour each way trip to the airport also and we don't have flights as regular. I had looked into and if we had childcare or we didn't already have a child this would have been our next option. They are so dismissive and flippant no regard for how upset this made me today and for the next 2 weeks wondering if we did the right thing. The reason for July is I had booked a holiday for June with my family way back in the new year. So if it was just us as in me my partner and baby we would cancel but I would be letting them down too so I don't feel I can plus a holiday may be good for me.

OP posts:
Vallef · 28/04/2023 10:36

@roro87 a holiday before will for sure be good for you hun :) that's how I felt when I did my treatment as wrll and with the cancer background I won't have the chance for many goes as the medications is what feeds the cancer. I have a friend who is in Scotland who had the same issue and she came over a few weeks ago for the treatment as well. Just don't know wht in the UK is only about the money they don't look at you as an individual for tests etc it's just the standard treatment for all from what I see. Anyway it is what it is I wish you all the best and if you need anything support even just for a moan do reach out sometimes we just need to have space to vent with someone who actually understands what we're going through x
