I had an early scan today due to bleeding.
HCG levels have gone from
37 - Monday
107 - Wednesday
430 - Saturday
1,260 Today
They are trying to rule out ectopic due to bleeding.
Vaginal scan thismorning showed nothing in uterus. The consultant said it was still too early for anything to be seen yet. He said HCG must be at least 1,500 before a gestational sac is detected.
My HCG was 1,260 today but surely that's high enough for them to see something if it's in my uterus?!
Anyone else had where they haven't seen anything but then gone back when HCG was higher and saw something?

How many weeks do you think you are? Sounds to me like you are panicking - those figures are doubling perfectly and it seems v early?

Thank you, I am panicking as I do have health anxiety this whole situation is making me so anxious.
If it wasn't for the early bleeding I would never have suspected ectopic.
I think I am 5 ish weeks from LMP but my cycles are irregular so I may be 4 ish 4.5 x

How many weeks are you?

Twizbe · 14/03/2023 14:32

Just seen your update.

That is super early. At this stage everything is really tiny and hard to see on scans. Given you're irregular as well your dates could be off and you're closer to the 4 week end of things.

Bleeding is not unusual in early pregnancy, especially around the time of your missed period which this is.

Your HCG is rising nicely so that is a positive.

Five weeks is still early for a gestational sac .. I had the same issue with my now 12 year old .. I was beside myself with worry but a repeat scan at 6 weeks 4 days showed a teeny little blob with a heart beat

Mummy2mybear · 14/03/2023 14:37

Yep my levels abnormally high nothing showing on the scans so they suspected ectopic few days later confirmed twin pregnancy try not to worry OP its a good sign the increases they will see the sac very soon x

Thank you, so your HCG levels were in the 1000s when you had the first scan and nothing was seen? X

Mummy2mybear · 14/03/2023 14:49

Yes I could not tell you the exact number but was definitely in the 1000s, please try not to worry x

MrsMariaReynolds · 14/03/2023 14:49

I had a similar experience, many years ago. They weren't really able to see anything on the scan until closer to 8 weeks for me, despite numbers climbing. The scan is a strapping 15 year old now 😁 (And still a man of mystery...)

RinklyRomaine · 14/03/2023 15:45

Sorry, school run. There's never any guarantees OP which I'm sadly well aware of. It's very early days and these things are a mystery but nothing you've said is worrying. 4-5 weeks is very early to see anything, and I believe they don't expect to see it until after 1500-2000. I had a scan at around 1400 (I think) because of a very recent miscarriage and there was nothing. 2 days later, a HCG redraw and TVS and there he was.

Hi OP how are things? any further updates on your situation... following the post as I had similar circumstances to this i hope to think they can see the gestational sac by now x ?

Hi! I go back for my re scan tomorrow at 9.30am it's been a looooong week of waiting, stress and worry but I just hope that when they scan again tomorrow they can see a little bean in my tummy in the right place 🙏🏼
I'm sorry you've had a similar experience what did they say? X

Best of luck for the rescan, I'm sure it will be good news from previous posts sounds like things developing well, Mine was a twin pregnancy which explained why the hgc was so high but they could not find anything at the time was just to early at the rescan confirmed two sacs. Mine are 5 now so this is all past experience but when I read your OP I thought I would comment as it was very similar circumstances just to early. Let us know how you get on all the best 😀

outinthesun · 20/03/2023 20:15

I am surprised they even scanned you this early even with bleeding
Most places do not scan until at least 6 weeks as not a lot (if anything) can be seen before then, try not to worry at this point

Thank you this makes me
Feel better. It's just caused me so much anxiety and worry I haven't slept properly in a week, and I've been left with more questions than answers until tomorrow 🤷🏻‍♀️😩 xx

Update:
Scan today showed a live thriving pregnancy with a heart beat in my fallopian tube. I am beyond devastated and have to go in for surgery in the next few hours.

I have pcos and I had a “chemical miscarriage” in July 2022 ( still not to sure what that means)I have been having similar symptoms nausea and a smells, and tender breast, so I decided to do a pregnancy test. I’ve had a super faint line on Monday, and then Tuesday I took the clear blue digital and got the reading pregnant 1-2, I’ve had no luck with epu/egu or gps, and booked in with bpas, they had booked me in for a pre consultation scan today. They done the scan internally and couldn’t see any sacs, they then tested my urine sample and it also came back negative, they have send me home with 2 Covid test looking pregnancy tests and asked me test the new few days. I had to request my GP for a blood test this Friday to see my HCG levels. Has anyone had any similar experiences?! Really worried to what this could mean.

Pari90 · 31/01/2024 17:23

So sorry for what you’re going through. Hope you had the support that you needed around you.
