Can anyone tell me if it is ok to test in the afternoon or should you wait for the first one of the day? Waiting to go to loo, but just waiting for any advice first. Thanks

LOL How are you today? Has it sunk in yet?

If you still want me to send more tests, send me your address on that email address, I'll post them next time in town :O

Twinklewishes · 12/02/2008 15:56

Thanks NatalieJane, will do so.

It is still not sinking in yet.

I suppose it was all go after I went upstairs to test. I had to laugh as Dh walked in on me in bathroom clearing up with plastic cups in my hand

I felt so bad I could not tell him what I was doing. I must have been so red.

Well, anyway, I have been to town and bought some wrapping that seems very appropriate for putting the test stick in. I am sure he will guess when he opens it.

This morning I contacted the person I bought the test sticks from and she is certain that it sounds like a positive result. Although she has advised me to take the test again in the morning. Apparently (and don't quote me on this), your hormone level doubles every day, so therefore this is why the line gets darker after each day after the missed period. They are also stronger in the morning.

Although I did not sleep a wink last night, I do feel so much better. I hope to test positive again on Thursday and then I will be able to tell my DH, he will be sooooo excited. I just hope that things go better this time round. Things are still early.

I will post again on Thursday. To let all of you who have supported me what happened.

The HCG (pregnancy) hormone is supposed to roughly double every day of a viable pregnancy. But test sticks don't always show as getting darker and darker.

Some tests (even multi packaged ones) will have varying degrees of sensitivity, so one may pick up enough HCG to show a very dark line where as the other in the packet may not be as sensitive and show either a BFN or a fainter line. So I would try not to compare the test results because you could talk yourself into alsorts!

And on top of that if you kept the test stick you used yesterday, the line may well have lightened or darkened or even sometimes dissapeared altogether. I still have the two test's I did with DS2 and on the night I did them there was hardly a line (or actually a dot on the tests I used) there, now there is a very very very dark pink dot there.

I will be in town either tomorrow or Thursday I think so I'll pop some more test's in the post for you

HCG should double approximately every 72hrs at this stage!! Thats why 2-3 days is usually recommended.

Thursday should be fine!

NatalieJane · 12/02/2008 16:25

Oh yes, Teuch is right of course

Coming from a woman who thinks the smell of her farts is a pregnacy symptom, Teuch, you all of a sudden seem more erm.... all knowing....!!

NatalieJane · 12/02/2008 16:26

Ahem... pregnancy

Teuch · 12/02/2008 16:29

was that you NJ??!!

NatalieJane · 12/02/2008 16:31

No not me, I'm not pregnant!! Must be Twinkle (...or you?)

Twinklewishes · 13/02/2008 14:42

Did another test this morning and yet again another bfp. I am just about to wrap test stick.

I could not wait until Thursday. The one from this morning looks that same as the positive one I did in August. My chest is very sore now and are having to visit loo more often.

I am going to have a very busy nest few days. DH Birthday and Valentines Day tomorrow. A meal out on Friday and a party on Sunday. So lots of celebrating.

I am just keeping my fingers crossed for a better pregnancy than last time (MC at 15W). I try not to get my hopes up too much, but are trying to be optomistic and look after myself.

I am going to post tomorrow to let everyone know how I get on with surprise gift. [wink}
