Hi.
I have done an ovulation test this morning and reading is high (attached below) - AF is due today and when I wiped I had light pink blood on the tissue, wiped around 10 minutes later again and nothing.
DTD last night & last Monday as we missed my ovulation window for Feb.
has anyone else had this, google says you can have high readings when AF is due but other google pages is telling me you don’t.

You can have positive opk in early pregnancy. I did.

Nmmck93 · 06/03/2023 12:33

@Darthwazette hi. Yeah I have read that but due to not DTD on my high ovulation or peak day last month, I didn’t think that would be possible for me. 🙈

From what I've read, you can get 'high' anytime of the month, but it's the 'peak' that matters.
On a side note, if you look at mine, one of my 'low' is 0.56 which is higher than your 0.54 and yours says high Hmm, so the app is sometimes not great to go by x

Even DTD around that time leads to a chance of pregnancy considering sperm can live up to 5days in the female body.

Nmmck93 · 06/03/2023 12:41

@cat709 thank you, yeah I didn’t think 0.54 would have read high at all which was what was confusing me because I’ve seen other people on here using pre mom and it’s usually much higher before it says ‘high’ I’ll just keep an eye for AF.
it’s just so confusing when I actually ovulate because last month I had an app tell me when I should have been high and peak and the tests where all negative.

@bracemyselfagain yeah but even when we DTD we weren’t near any dates of my ovulation. It’s just all so confusing. Would love it to be pregnancy, but I don’t think it’ll be that easy for me with PCOS and Endometriosis 🙈

I deeply apologise if this may sound patronising or disrespectful - not my intention at all!
But, even a woman without those conditions sometimes struggle to pin point the exact time ovulation occurs, it really can vary cycle to cycle.
So, could it be possible you ovulated at a different time?
I'm just saying; it's possible :)

Nmmck93 · 06/03/2023 13:08

@bracemyselfagain no not patronising at all, I completely agree! Because i wasn’t fully TTCing until March and I’m still new to all this I’m not sure. I had a positive ovulation strip on the 18th of February last month but negative every other day.

I know your app is flagging it as high- but a ‘high’ ovulation test is meaningless. The only thing that matters with OPKs is the peak, where the test line is darker than the control.

some people see ‘line progression’ building up to a peak, but sometimes you get ‘high’ readings for absolutely no reason at all.

LH is in the system at all times, ebbing and flowing. Sometimes it gives strong lines at random points in your cycle. The peak is the only thing that tells you anything.

I wouldn’t read into it too much.

i find the clearblue cartridges much easier. Start after your period and just use every morning until you get flashing smileys then a static. No need to study lines.

Nmmck93 · 06/03/2023 13:18

@GoldenCagedBird thank you so much for that information!
I really do appreciate it. It’s just because AF is due today and I’m worried that my ovulation may occur during that time but reading into it seems like that’s very rare to happen.
thank you

@Nmmck93

What worked for me (without OPK's) was ...
DTD near the end of my period, then every 2-3days after that. My thinking was, whenever ovulation does decide to happen, sperm will be where they need to be, ready & waiting to fertilise the egg.
The fertilisation window is actually very small considering how long everything else takes!

Turns out I actually ovulated on CD9 (confirmed via ultrasound) ... anything can happen on the journey of TTC.

Nmmck93 · 06/03/2023 13:23

@bracemyselfagain aww thank you! My period only actually lasts like 4 days max 5 so will definitely keep in mind what you said!
also, congratulations to you.

@Nmmck93

My periods were always done by day 4/5 too!

ThankYou on the 'Congratulations' :)
I genuinely wish you all the best.

It’s very common for women to get a higher reading just before their period.
