Hiya! Exactly as the title states, I'm curious as to what anyone has given up in the hopes of conceiving, so before learning they are pregnant. Obviously aside from the usual suspects: cigarettes and alcohol.. xx

Caffeine, having 2 cups of tea a day and the rest is decaf. Seriously regretting it with 2 under 4 😂

Caffeine, completely. I had a drink or two per week of alcohol but never to excess.

I gave it all up and then didn't get pregnant. By the 18 month mark I decided to give up living like I was pregnant when I wasn't.

At 2.5 years of TTC I got massively drunk at a Eurovision party half way through my TWW. No idea I was pregnant... that baby is now 6.

Nothing and I fell pregnant within 3 months. This time round I'm taking it more seriously going to try eating more fruit and veg etc lol

Emmamoo89 · 02/03/2023 20:23

Didn't give up anything. Still drank tea/coffee and alcohol. X

Don’t drive yourself insane like i did over 18 months. If it is going to happen it will. Have been pregnant twice happened quickly. Third time 18 months in and if there is one thing I would change (obviously easy to say in hindsight) but i wish I didn’t forget to live. To keep having coffee, to not drive myself insane thinking if i do this or don’t do this maybe it’ll happen etc. 6 months in get blood tests and sperm analysis for reassurance if you need it. Good luck.

I heard that peas were gas for fertility and used to be a natural contraceptive. Maybe that's why it took us 2 years and IVF as they are one of my favourite vegetables!

Nothing, as I don’t see any reason to? Don’t smoke anyway. I drink regularly but within NHS recommended limits. No reason to give up caffeine. It could take years!

Zapx · 02/03/2023 21:25

Caffeine! Bit of an adjustment but it was easier to give up than I thought

Long distance running. There were too many studies that said it impacted fertility. I'm sure some of my running buddies are scratching their heads over why I've gone from lots of racing and training to just plodding round.
