Bleeding between periods (while TTC)

Hey everyone,

I’ve always been regular as clockwork (27 day cycle, occasionally spotting a day or 2 before AF)
I’m 43, TTC for forever 🙄 have had an MMC and 3 rounds of failed IVF last year - everything popped straight back to normal routine afterwards.
we’re just about to go ahead with donor egg IVF but have been having a little break from it all and always hoping for a miracle 😂

this cycle AF came as normal - light flow for 3/4 days. Then stopped completely (totally normal for me)
then 2 days later I started bleeding lightly again for about 3/4 days - very not normal.
i normally LH test but our cat was pts around that time so I only did the day before predicted OV (which again is regular as clockwork) and LH levels were incredibly low (not normal!)
we only DTD about 6 days before predicted OV and 4 days after with all the cat stuff. But loads last cycle as we were on holiday 😂
I’m 5 DPO (based on predictions) today and started bleeding lightly again??? Wtf??

anyone got any experience of this??
possible chemical from last cycle??
tiny bit of cramping with first abnormal bleed but otherwise ok…. Smears up to date, HPV but nothing else as of December.
is it worth testing?? 🤷🏼‍♀️🤷🏼‍♀️
my mum bled all the way through her pregnancy with me so there’s that eternal optimist that hopes but I know it’s highly unlikely 🤣🤣

I've been spotting between periods on and off for around 18 months now. It usually starts at ovulation for a few days and then starts up again a few days before my period. Last month as soon as I ovulated the bleeding started, continued for 2 weeks and then my actual period arrived and lasted the usual 3 days. Weirdly though I had zero period pain in that cycle when I usually get it quite badly on the first day! This month my ovulation happened on CD21 and it normally happens on CD14/15 (although no idea if that's related).

I've had many many doctors appointments about it, smears, colposcopy, cervical biopsy, blood tests, two ultrasounds and a transvaginal scan and no one can tell me why this is happening. I suspect it's something to do with low progesterone and as I'm now actively TTC I'm being for a CD2/3 blood test and a CD21 blood test.

I think with any type of abnormal bleeding it's worth going to your doctor about (and of course you could take a test to be sure!). Hope you manage to get some answers and wishing you all the best with your IVF ❤

my bleeding took an even more concerning turn today….
the bleeding got quite heavy yesterday, woke up to nothing this morning but 15 minutes later I bled heavily with sone really big clots! Like nothing I’ve ever seen before. Way TMI sorry but it looked like pieces of liver!!
its freaked me out completely! I think I’ll call
the GP tomorrow!! 😳😳😳

Hey @Kelb79, does the bleeding require a tampon or pad? Mine is normally just when I wipe, never really enough to go into my knickers. Do you also have any pain with it? The blood clot sounds scary, I did have massive clots like the one you've described the month I got my 3rd Covid vaccine (no evidence at all that it's linked but the timing definitely coincided...). Did you manage to get through to the GP this morning? Really hope you manage to get some answers 🙏. When are you planning to start your IVF?

According to Natural Cycles I ovulated on Friday and so far have zero symptoms, no bleeding, no sore boobs and I'm feeling like I usually do in my follicular phase 😂e.g. I can actually be bothered to go to the gym still haha. Not sure what that means, I can't help but think I might be having an anovulatory month, but I did have a positive OPK and have had a BBT rise since so maybe it's a good sign?!

@PennyPenny1 so it’s all still a mystery!! I was bleeding really heavily and the clots were HUGE so I called 111. I was on the 6 hour call back list but they took 12 hours 😐
they sent me to my GP in the morning.
so far I’ve had blood work, blood pressure/heart rate/oxygen checks and a pregnancy test….. all clear.
they don’t think cancer, endometriosis, polyps or fibroids as I’ve been having the IVF treatment so have been fully under the microscope. And they don’t think perimenopause as I’ve had no other symptoms 🤷🏼‍♀️
so I’m currently a medical mystery! 🙄
they’ve referred for scans but will take 4-8 weeks of course!
i was hoping to be at the point of transfer by then and the IVF clinic gave says they’d like the results of all this before transfer 😐
its soooo frustrating!! 😩😩

definitely trust your tests for your ovulation 👌🏼😁 and praise the Lord that it hadn’t come with bleeding this month 🙏🏼🙏🏼🤣🤣🤣 what a nightmare!! We don’t get it easy do we 🙄🤷🏼‍♀️😐😘
