Missing period...

Can anyone share their experiences with me? TTC since Christmas, but came off the pill in October to allow my body to adjust a little and find my 'normal'. First cycle was long (33days) but since then they've settled down to around 28days.

This cycle I got a positive OPK at CD18. DTD a few days in my fertile window and was expecting Aunt Flo to arrive CD32.

Now I'm on CD34 and still no sign of her? I should add I've done plenty of HPTs, all of which are very negative (not a hint of anything). I've accepted that I'm out for this month, but I'm missing Aunt Flo? I need her to come along so I can move on to my next cycle...

Anyone had this before? Did you skip a period and move on as normal? When do I start OPKing? Should I assume I didn't actually ovulate (and just got a peak)? Any experiences gratefully received! So confused over here...

My cycles were fine until I started ttc. Then had a couple of periods that were up to 1 week late. I think our bodies just like to mess with us. I also think the stress of ttc affects your cycles.

I had read a while ago (and I don't know if its true) - you need as many months to get back to normal after coming off the pill as the years you took it.

Do you temp? That might help give you an idea of what's going on?

difficultlemons · 23/02/2023 14:21

You haven't started those pregnancies vits by any chance?

difficultlemons · 23/02/2023 14:21

Sorry ttc vitamins

ConstantlyWorrying · 24/02/2023 21:23

No to the vitamins - only folic acid @difficultlemons x

@curliegirlie I don't currently but I'm looking into how I'd go about this (it's all new to me!) so have been reading a few threads on it!

To add to the confusion...
Bottom test was what I thought was my 'peak' OPK on CD12.
Out of curiosity I've started to use OPKs again tonight and the top test is almost exactly the same as CD12? But I'm CD35. So could my body have not ovulated and is having another go at it? So confused!

Those ovulation tests aren’t positive so you probably ovulated later than you think. To be positive it needs to be as dark or darker than the control line.

I’d recommend temping as well as using OPKs, it gives a much clearer picture of what’s going on.

ConstantlyWorrying · 25/02/2023 07:37

Ah ok, that's interesting. Even though they're darker than the rest of the strips I had all month? (Sorry for all the questions, this is really new to me and I'm clearly not as clued up as I could be!)
The rest of the strips barely had a visible line at all (internet cheapies) so I figured this was close to the peak as they stood out among the rest of the tests quite a bit!
Back to the drawing board...

It can take a few cycles to get the hang of opks. The first time I used them I thought it was peak when the line was darker than previous days, however it has to be the same or darker than the control line, so your looking for a dye stealer basically.

fairgame84 · 25/02/2023 09:55

The only other thing I would suggest is to use the clearblue digital opk with the smiley face. I used them first, then once I got the hang of them and understood my cycles better I moved onto the strips.
