Ovulation stick - advice!

Hi ladies,

Unfortunately I haven't had any luck falling pregnant the old fashioned way, so this month I have decided to do ovulation sticks over the 7 days to see if I can work out if I'm
Ovulating as the app predicts or outside of it.

Last month, I did one ovulation stick on day 17 (so app said ovulation date was day 18).

This month, I've got a line on day 10 (not the thickest but it's there). I will continue to test for the next week to work out what day is the strongest line.

But based on the above, how can I get a line of day 10 and day 17. I thought it was a 48 hour line window?!

Thanks
Cat x

To be a positive on an ovulation test the test line has to be darker than the control. How dark is your test line compared to the control?

TheBirdintheCave · 21/02/2023 11:12

Oh and you have some level of LH in your system always as far as I know, so tests are never blank negatives with LH :)

@TheBirdintheCave I'd say it's 50% thickness of the control line.
I presume it will get slowly thicker for the next week?
Maybe I naively thought that any kind of line means ovulation (like a pregnancy test)

Everyone is different but my tests were very visible basically throughout the month with strong peaks. I don't know why the app has taken off the cycle days but this was the last month I tracked because we conceived - we DTD on the 10th (the first high) and then not again so we must have just caught it!

Oh I see, thanks for sharing! So it's not like a pregnancy test at all (yes or no outcome), I guess I just need to collect data every day like you have done to see which day has the strongest line xx

Yes! I used the premom app to upload the sticks and it would give me a ratio and plot it in a chart. You aren't supposed to use your first wee of the day, so I tended to have a few hours hold and then test with the second urine.

For some people their tests are very light and then suddenly get stronger to the peak, so sometimes it's best to test twice in a day if you think you're about to miss ovulation so that you don't miss the peak!

I also started BBT which is basically taking your temperature as the very first thing you do every morning (literally before getting out of bed or anything else). After ovulation your temperature rises for at least three days on the trot so it's a useful way to confirm that you have ovulated, although it doesn't predict when you will ovulate like OPKs do.

My chart looked like this. The orange line is the OPK and the blue line is BBT x

@cat709 we were away celebrating our engagement and only stopped on the 10th due to a sex related injury 😂 luckily we managed to conceive despite being a day or two before ovulation!

Hi girls, rather than do a new post, just wanted to see if you ovul-experts know the answer?

In 2020, it says that 0.52 says high.
In 2022, today, my 0.56 says low.

How can it say that the lower figure in 2020 was high when I've had a higher result now and they're saying it's low?!

Cat xx
