Private fertility testing

Me and my husband are 29 and 30 with an 8 year old. We have been ttc baby number 2 for the past 2 years with no luck. Gp referred me gyno over a year ago for consistent pelvic pain although still awaiting an appointment.

I have been looking into private fertility testing which is Ultrasound scan, AMH blood test, Semen analysis and Consultation) for £565. Now we could afford to pay this but couldn't afford to pay for any treatment. Is it worth it paying for fertility testing?

thankyou

I’d go back to your GP and ask for some bloods done to check your levels on things they should be able to do that for you even given you’ve got a child. Then you could ask a private fertility doctor to check those results for you so you don’t have to pay for those basic ones. Worth a shot before you sign up for £500+. Are you using ovulation sticks?

It’s so frustrating it took us two years to conceive, I hope you get there 🤞🏼

Here in London the GP first sent me for three sets of blood tests. She also kindly ordered a pelvic scan to investigate this stabbing pain on my right side that I had since miscarriage over a year ago. This was done under gynaecology not for fertility specifically.
I would ask for the above. Good luck, I know too well how hard this is.
After this fertility got in touch and I have since had a semen analysis and a hycosy (another thing which has helped women conceive).

Sorry to hijack your thread OP but @RosyappleA what was the outcome of your scan?? Did they find anything? I’ve had something very very similar sounding, ongoing pelvic pain after a miscarriage and also not conceived since. Wondering what’s going on!

@fuckwhatshouldido hello, they found what they suspected to be an endometrioma strangely on the opposite side which hurts, which isn’t good as it indicates I have endometriosis and may be why I am having trouble conceiving and pain on the other side too. Good thing is it hasn’t grown in 4 months and a hycosy scan didn’t really show any blood in it. It also confirmed no other abnormalities and my tubes are open. Will speak to the clinic next week and update if you like. Really worried I can’t conceive without surgery to remove the endo tissue though :(. I have a big fear of surgery and may just leave it if it comes to that. It came as a surprise as my periods aren’t painful but they are very heavy on two days which goes to show with trouble ttc it really is worth exploring every avenue to get down to the bottom of things. Good luck!
