Just 30 but conceived month 4 after the pill. We did try the first cycle but really think it was pointless since I hadn’t had a period yet so 3 months really

Roterosen · 19/02/2023 23:34

Aged 31 it took two months and age 33 it took one (in fact we weren't even trying as wanted a bigger age gap).

Emerald237 · 19/02/2023 23:38

First DC was first cycle
Second DC was second cycle

I wasn't on any hormonal birth control, we used the withdrawal method (with it being no big deal if we got caught out). I am very fortunate and grateful.

I wasn't doing anything special, although for years I have been keeping track of my cycles so when we TTC I was in tune with ovulation dates etc,

Emerald237 · 19/02/2023 23:39

Forgot to add, age 31 and 34

dmb91 · 19/02/2023 23:39

5 years (and IVF)

Walkingtheplank · 19/02/2023 23:50

9 months and 2nd cycle after stopping breastfeeding / period resuming. Would have preferred a bigger gap between them but thought it might take 9 months again!

LadyJ2023 · 19/02/2023 23:51

I had just turned 30 and had been trying for 3 years and 10 months - but DP was infertile.

SnookyPook · 20/02/2023 00:33

Aged 34 conceived DS on 4th cycle. Currently trying aged 37 and just in tww of cycle 3... Hoping not too much longer.

Good luck!

Laneymoo · 20/02/2023 00:41

Age 34 (35 now), started TTC after having copper coil removed, fell pregnant straight away after having sex once during fertile window. I was shocked, wasn't expecting it to happen so quickly! Best of luck!

Jodielou5972 · 20/02/2023 00:51

Turn 30 in April and currently 32 weeks pregnant with first child!! Conception was done through artificial insemination, worked first time. No fertility drugs or anything. I'm very very lucky.

KatRee · 20/02/2023 08:40

Took me around 3 years in all starting around age 35 - one year of not really trying but not preventing, one of really trying and one of fertility investigations followed by 3 rounds of ivf

Before starting ttc I used to love hearing stories of women over 35 who got pregnant on the first go, then as it didn't happen I looked for stories of those who had been trying for a year or so and suddenly got pregnant. What I wished I had done was follow NHS guidelines gone to the doctor when it hadn't happened after 6 months. Other people's fertility can't tell us anything about our own. It turned out I had blocked Fallopian tubes and needed ivf and what I had not known was that ivf success rates drop massively and quickly for women over 35. Lots of women conceive easily in mid to late thirties or even forties, but if you turn out to be one of those who struggles it is best to get help asap

I think fertility peaks late 20s and starts to decline slowly from age 30 and more rapidly from age 35.

Exactly the same timewise as this - first DC I was age 30 at time of conception and second (currently preg) 34 at time of conception.
We we’re managing naturally too (I came off pill age 29 and will never go back on it again)
I track my cycle well - avoid having sex when I may be fertile and both times we ‘tired’ we were lucky to have it happen very quickly for us.

Baby1023 · 20/02/2023 09:19

‘tried’ not ‘tired’!

Update! Age 37, 3rd cycle 😃 just hoping for a sticky bean .. 🤞🏻😊

WandaWonder · 20/02/2023 09:24

I was 31, a couple of weeks maybe, it was not a conscience decision just stopped contraception

lifehappens12 · 20/02/2023 09:37

At 37 it took 8 long months. Felt like forever and actually wasn't

nCemplument · 20/02/2023 22:16

OP this thread is pointless in the nicest way, I never dreamt I'd be in the struggling to conceive camp - I am normal BMI eat healthy don't smoke or excessively drink etc and two sisters and mom not a miscarriage between them so I thought my turn would be plain sailing.

In three years in soon 37 and nothing - except four miscarriages.

The point is you just have no idea until you start trying

Scalessayeek · 20/02/2023 22:26

Started trying just before 28, had so many friends similar age as me with problems so told hubby it would be a while (weighed 19 stone). Fell third month of trying. Second time round I was 32 (20.5 stone), two months. It’s not something you can really bet on I don’t think.
