Could I be pregnant?

Hi guys, I'm really worried now.

I took a test this morning, I wasn't too concerned as I do take the contraceptive pill (I'm almost certain I have taken it every day but now second guessing myself) but I've been getting really painful boobs and a distinctive kind of cramping - which I have only got before when I was pregnant.

Anyway, I took the test and read it for about 30-60 seconds and nothing was showing up so I put it on my dressing table.

I was supposed to come and check it again but ended up having an emergency and had to leave the house, completely forgot about it. Anyway I've come back about 5 hours later and this is what it looks like?!

Again, no idea if it showed up within the time frame. I'm praying it is an indent.

My question is - can an indent line that's been left out for a few hours look this blue?

Hi @pleasehelpme2839 that looks like a positive to me xx

pleasehelpme2839 · 18/02/2023 15:29

I really really don't want to be pregnant. I'm so sure I never missed a pill, I need to check my packet. I've heard blue dye tests can cause quite bad indents.

I think you just need to do another test.
Could be a positive or could be an evaporation line.

OneMoreCookieMonster · 18/02/2023 15:31

That definitely looks positive to me. I was told by a gp once (was having loads of fertility issues) that even if the time frame is up and you have a coloured line chances are you're definitely pregnant. The tests detect hcg and a coloured line shows that the test has picked it up. I would retest with an early detection test and keep an eye on it or retest in 48hrs when if you are you'll have more hormone present.

Hope this is the news you were hoping for.

GoodChat · 18/02/2023 15:31

You have been having sex so, yes, you could be pregnant. Take another test and review it within the window. Unfortunately nobody can give you a definitive answer without that.

pleasehelpme2839 · 18/02/2023 15:35

I was just wondering if anyone had been in the same situation with having an indent line with this much of a strong colour. Realistically I know I need to wait and just take another one in the morning. Just a horrible feeling worrying like this 😞

Maybe try one of the the parenting boards, they are full of people who have seen positive tests before.

OneMoreCookieMonster · 18/02/2023 16:03

Every one that I've had look like that has either been a pregnancy with loss or a success.

If you are and it's unwanted and not possible. Whatever your reasons which you don't ever have to justify. Remember, ultimately you have choices available to you. They are yours to make and either way its never an easy choice. If you need any further information, I'm happy to pass it along it to you. (I'm more keyed up on the Surrey area)

In the meantime, one step at time. Take a deep breath and retest when you are feeling up to it.

Twoinapod · 18/02/2023 16:11

I’ve seen lots of people post similar photos of these tests and they’ve ended up being evaps. Blue dye tests are really bad for them. Get yourself a frer or boots early test as they’re both much better and read within the time frame.

pleasehelpme2839 · 18/02/2023 16:17

FRER is negative. Will take the 2nd one in the morning with first morning wee to make sure but I'm hoping it was just an evap before.

Thanks for the hand hold. My child had their leg amputated not so long ago and we've only just got our lives back on track and it's just not something I'm ready for right now. I know I have options and I know what id chose; just hope I'm not in the situation in the first place!

I was actually going to say that looks too thin a line to me to be positive. Thus more likely an indent. Glad your frer is negative, op. Hope it stays that way for you

FT123456 · 18/02/2023 16:28

I agree with pp the line on the clear blue in the first pic was very thin therefore likely to be evap line as usually they are thicker.

It's not just missing a pill, you're also less protected if you had diarrhea or vomited.

ScrantonDunderMifflin · 18/02/2023 17:40

Yeah clear blues always give indents with those tests!

GoodChat · 18/02/2023 17:46

Fingers crossed your morning test gets the same result op x

If this were the case then why does it state do NOT read after certain time period! I know it's a bizarre concept, but GPs are not always correct in what they say

OneMoreCookieMonster · 18/02/2023 18:53

Wow, that's alot of unnecessary anger there. Simmer down. I never said use it to confirm. And, also suggested that the op retest. Or am I having some sort memory lapse? I repeated what I was told by a gp specialising in women's health and fertility. Sorry I didn't include her resume. And, you are 100% correct GPs don't know it all.

But, even a quick Google will tell you what pregnancy tests detect and how it works. I won't go into interpretation of the results because it's pretty damn basic. The op asked randoms on the Internet for their opinions on what they saw, I gave mine. Simple.

MGee123 · 18/02/2023 20:06

Sounds like you've dodged a bullet this time OP. If you really don't want to get pregnant I would suggest a longer lasting form of contraceptive eg coil/implant would be a good idea.

I didn't even miss a pill though. I would like to try the coil though just through convenience more than anything.
