Anyone have long cycles? When do you ovulate?

Does anyone else have really long (but not irregular) cycles? Mine are about 36 days.

I was on the pill from when I was 16 until I was 30, when I came off it and conceived my DS (now 2 yo) within a couple of months.

After having DS I went on the implant. I came off that about 5 months ago and was very surprised that my cycles are now really long - average 36 days. Actual period is normal length (5 days bleeding).

Planning on TTC soon and will use OPKs but a rough idea of when to aim for would be useful…

@SalviaOfficinalis do you have any idea how long your luteal phase is/was previously? If so, I'd work backwards from that. I've had 32/33 day cycles before and ovulated around day 18/19. My luteal phase is 14 days like clockwork, so from ovulation, if I don't conceive, period will come 14 days later.

@SalviaOfficinalis to begin with I'd probs start using the OPKs from around CD10 and see where you get to. Might mean a couple of months of using quite a few (OneStep off Amazon do a big bag relatively cheap!) until you know where you're at. Good luck!

I’ve not been tracking ovulation properly, but going by EWCM, luteal phase might vary from 14 days to about 19 days…. Just seems very long.

You’re right though, the only way to find out is do lots of OPKs

My cycles were about 35/36 days too and I still ovulated day 14/15 so just have a longer luteal phase. I was concerned it might become difficult to conceive for some reason but I'm pregnant now with no issues and it seems only a short luteal phase is potentially problematic.

Thanks, that’s reassuring.

It’s really hard to find information - everything I’ve read is about “long or irregular cycles” indicating there could be a problem. Very little info about “long but regular”!
