Likelihood of conceiving second child?

I have one child who is 7 months old...DH and I tried to conceive for years. Fertility tests never showed any problems, there was no obvious reason I wasn't conceiving until after 4 years and 7 months, spontaneously, I did. As I don't know why we struggled, I'm not sure how likely it is we'll go on to struggle for a second.

Anyone experienced anything similar and gone on to conceive number 2 relatively easily? Or the opposite, and struggled again for a second baby?

I know many people who found it much easier second time around.

I agree I would get cracking as most people find it easier second time round. You can get blood tests and sperm analysis privately for peace of mind though.

Took my SIL 3 year to fall the first time. This time round she came off the pill, expected a long process again, and fell within a couple months 🤷🏻‍♀️

Yep, me. Currently 37 weeks pregnant with number 2. Took us 2 years, multiple losses to conceive number 1. Had started fertility investigations too.
Then bam. Accidentally pregnant at 4.5 months after number 1 was born!!

my mum struggled to conceive for 6 years, im firstborn and my parents didnt bother using protection after i was born due to me being a miracle baby, 21 months later my little sister was born! best of luck xx

Not me, but a friend. 6+ years to conceive first. Second was born 15 months after first.

I know of a few others who took around a year-18mths to conceive first then second was much quicker.

Thanks for all the replies, really interesting how it can take ages the first time then it seems it can be really fast the second time. I really hope we're fortunate enough to have it happen more easily this time round. Planning to wait until DS is 12 months old then start trying. 🤞
