Been off the pill for 2 years to get my cycle back to ‘normal’ and TTC actively for around a year now and nothing!
Currently on 11 DPO and have all the usual PMS symptoms so AF is definitely on her way, it’s just bringing me down. I’m 30 DH is 34 and everyone around me either asks constantly when are we having kids (😡) or is currently pregnant / just had a baby. All of my friends seem to just fall pregnant by accident or after 1 month of trying. Appreciate that might not always be the full story it just feels as though it’s constantly in my face, can’t think of anything else.
Currently waiting to have further checks but all my bloods are showing I’m ovulating and there doesn’t seem to be any issues, previously GP has just told me to wait it out due to my age.
Anyone with success stories that have been in a similar place have any wise words? To stop me from going insane 😊

30 is young enough. Wait a few more months before you start seeking more help. I wish you luck.

Thanks @Indáirire it just feels like it’s happening for everyone but me! Feeling a little sorry for myself 🤣

Yep, I was off the pill for 7 years and then took 19 months to conceive my now 3 month old DS, I'm 29. My blood tests were normal and my DHs sperm analysis was normal. I conceived the month of my first appointment at the fertility clinic to get that ball rolling, we had also finished a very stressful project at work so it's possible that I fulfilled that awful saying of "just relax it will happen" which is annoying! That month I also gave up tracking ovulation with sticks and just DTD every other day for two weeks once my period ended. It's impossible to say if any of that is the reason it took that month but just wanted to share our "success story" as it sounds like it started similarly to your situation! Also I wouldn't wait a few months to see if it happens, after 12 months of TTC we got the initial blood tests etc but it was still a 6 month wait for an appointment for the next step.

In terms of wise words - I don't have any except to say to look after yourself and your relationship, it's really hard TTC when it feels like it'll never happen and I also had loads of friends that were sooo shocked to conceive on the first try! Hope you get your BFP soon xx

NegativeNelly · 14/02/2023 10:22

Honestly feel the same and I didn't realise until now how something can be so difficult to achieve it is depressing

TTC090 · 14/02/2023 11:21

@bravotango thanks for the message. sounds like you were in a similar boat - glad that you got your BFP and healthy baby! Definitely trying to not let it effect the relationship I just don’t know how people manage get the energy to DTD so much after a certain amount of time, certainly takes the fun out of it 🤣 x

@NegativeNelly sorry to hear you’re in the same place - feel free to vent if you need. Definitely feels draining at the moment - Hoping for your BFP soon

Ahhh, I just lost a really long message! Do go to the GP and start the ball rolling with tests. When I did this whilst TTC DD1 (slightly earlier than 12 months as AF had decided to go AWOL) it uncovered thyroid issues and once I was on the meds I conceived 6 months later...

But I completely understand the misery and frustration. I'm currently nearly 12 months into TTC #3 (following an early miscarriage of a surprise pregnancy) and it's sooo depressing.

Hi, has your DH had any tests at all? 100% recommend a sperm analysis at the very least. My tests were completely normal, when my DH was tested we found out we had zero chance of conceiving naturally.
Please don’t let the GP fob you off due to your age etc as the whole NHS fertility pathway is so slow so the sooner the better, if something does flag up at least you will be a few months ahead and you have already done the year TTC (Hoping you don’t need to go down that obviously!).

We gave up waiting and paid private in the end. I started TTC at 25 and now I’m finally 5 months pregnant at 31, I’ll be 32 when baby is born
, following IVF and operations for my DH. (Granted DH dragged his heels in denial for a little while before being tested and the dreaded Covid slowing everything down).

fingers crossed you get a lovely BFP soon but definitely keep on at the GP. Good luck x

TTC090 · 16/02/2023 10:11

Sorry I’m rarely on here just saw the other messages - thanks!

@KM91 yes the sperm analysis is the next thing, everything just seems to take forever through the GP, thinking of just going private as well to be honest. so happy that you got your BFP and a lovely healthy pregnancy sounds like you had quite a journey x

@curliegirlie hoping for your BFP soon too! & thanks for the advice will definitely keep pushing the GP. I was feeling rather sorry for myself when I originally posted (probably PMS 🤣) ready to get back on it for March now onwards and upwards x
