First time doing ovulation tests help!

Hi, I’m starting my ttc journey and as I’m older I’ve started using ovulation tests for my cycle. Ive been tracking my periods for a while now and my app predicted I’d ovulate a few days later, but my periods are irregular by a few days every cycle.

I started testing a couple of days before the app said I was due to ovulate, but judging from these tests I’m thinking this shows a surge/positive test on the first one I’ve taken, with a decrease after? I know it doesn’t help that the brand is different in the first one too…

Any expertise would be appreciated on whether this is a positive or too unreliable! Articles I’ve read seem to give conflicting info.

I've only just started using them this month as well so hopefully someone with more experience will be along soon to confirm, but yes that first one looks clearly positive to me indicating that was your peak. I tested for 5 days before the app predicted my O, had very obvious progression and peak one day ahead of schedule, then decrease looking just like your pics

Thanks for replying! I read stuff about it needing to be a darker line to be confirmed positive but as the others are getting weaker I thought maybe I caught the end of it. Sending lots of good luck to you

Hello!
really hard to say with them being different tests but what day of your cycle was the 3/2 at 11am taken on?
rule of thumb is always for the test line to be as dark as or darker than the control line so I may even go as far as saying you may have had your peak on 2/2 and the 3rd was the start of a decrease! Everyone’s LH surge is completely different, I’ll attach my tests from this month for you, I really recommend the easy@home strip tests and uploading them to the Premom app as it gives you a numerical value for each test x

Sorry I forgot to attach!

Hello! Thanks so much for replying and sharing your pic. It would be day 16 of my cycle and my cycle varies from 32-36 days… tricky to track 😒 I’ve just downloaded the premom app and it seems great, like that it gives you a number that’s a bit more definite…

Hmm yeah that is tricky, I have irregular cycles too raging from 26-32 days. Premom is great I really rate it! I’d also recommend tracking BBT if you aren’t already as that is the only way to confirm definite ovulation 🤞🏽 BBT rises due to progesterone after you release an egg x

Will def BBT too. Judging by yours we’re on similar timings so wishing you a stressless tww!

It seems so doesn’t it! Good luck to us both but I don’t do too well in the TWW, I’m overthinking and stressed already 🤣 keep me updated on your symptoms 🤞🏽 X

Hi there - can I ask, what’s the difference between the ones you’re using and the digital ones?
I’m really quite confused by it all but I’ll need to start using them if no luck this cycle.
What do the ones you are using test for and how often do you use them (I’m assuming you pee on them) and can you recommend a good source for info please? Thanks very much!!

Hello! I’m no expert on the digital tests but I know they show up different smiley faces that determine your fertile then peak days. Based on how long we’ve been trying to conceive the price of those just didn’t weigh up to the easy@home strips I use, you can get a pack of 25/50/100 on Amazon for really cheap! Yep you dip them in a urine sample for around 10 seconds and they detect the LH (luteinizing hormone) which increases and peaks 24-36 hours before your ovaries release a mature egg, the timing is different for everyone, but it gives a really good rough guide as to when you do ovulate!

@TTC0123 @Fnulare Thanks so much. Will get on Amazon and the App Store!!

Finulare · 10/02/2023 14:02

@TTC0123 so I had the stronger (not quite positive) ov test on 3 feb, but looking at Bbt it shows 4 feb, is that right?! I did have more fertile symptoms around 4 feb. It's driving me mad not knowing when I could reasonably test 🤣
